When I came up with this name for my blog (Couture et Tricot) I forgot that I also make crocheted garments… I've known the crochet basics for quite a long time but I only started to improve my crocheting abilities during last summer. I was inspired by the many magazines with wonderful crocheted garments that came out last year. I remember making at least five tank tops for myself and another one as a gift for a friend of mine. I'll show some of them anytime soon.

Yesterday I received a package from Phildar that contained this catalog (among other things):
It also contained the black cotton yarn to make this crocheted dress:
The cover model also caught my eye:
The catalogue is filled with gorgeous models! Check out these two tops:

I plan to finish the Phildar Bolero soon (I'll be knitting and not sewing later today, so it will be almost finished by tomorrow) and I'm still waiting for the Anny Blatt catalogue to arrive (remember that gorgeous sweater?). If it doesn't arrive during the next week, this dress will move up on my "to do" list. The instructions call for only 450g of cotton yarn and I feel that it might not be enough; I want to be sure as soon as possible, so I can order some more yarn if needed, before it runs out of stock. Have a great Weekend!

I love those! I see that European crochet magazines have much more stylish offerings than American ones. Just like sewing and knitting. Why am I not surprised? I could be convinced to make some of the ones you showed.

I can crochet a bit, but I've never made clothing. Only little baskets, pillows, and (once) a small bag. I tend to like crochet best in cotton (it's like knotted string; fascinating!), but it hurts my hands to do it, no matter how I hold the hook. So I don't do it. :(

BEAUTIFUL BLACK DRESS! Does that mag have the english instructions as well?

Adrienne: I believe there isn't an English version of this issue :(. Phildar has an English site (www.phildar.com) but they don't get all the magazines... The English ones are more expensive than the same issues in French. I can understand French but I would feel more confortable reading English instructions. Welcome to Couture et Tricot!
Lisa: I only started to get serious about crocheting when I realised how beautiful the crocheted garments could be! After a while of getting used to, these are as simple to make as the knitted ones!
Toya I knew that you would love this dress!! ;)

These patterns are amazing, so is your dress!

So is there any way to subscribe to this magazine in the US? even if it is in French? I just have to have those patterns!

Hi Mirela! I'm currently having some problems with my laptop (I'm at a fried's home and asked to use the his pc for accessing the internet). I don't know if you can order this magazine from the U.S. at www.phildar.fr. Just leave me your email, I'll see what I can do ;) (as soon as I get my laptop running, lol)
