Sem mais demora (porque tenho andado a correr contra o tempo), aqui têm o vestido amarelo, ou vestido Fórmula 1 como a Christina lhe chamou! Tenho que dizer que adoro este vestido, que veste lindamente, é fresco, giro e prático.

Conclusão: Um modelo que apesar da aparente simplicidade esconde muitos detalhes e que demora o seu tempo a confeccionar. Estou plenamente satisfeita com o resultado final!

Without further ado (I’ve been running against the time here), here’s the yellow dress or the “Formula 1” dress, as Christina called it! I must say I really love this dress, it’s fresh, cute and stylish.

Conclusion: In spite of the apparent simplicity of this model, I must say there are some nice details built into it and it’s more time consuming than it may look. I am fully satisfied with the final result and I highly recommend this pattern!

Primeiro quero agradecer pelos comentários recebidos na jaqueta do Paco; foi com enorme prazer que fiz este trabalho e receber tantos elogios foi a cereja no topo do bolo. A minha foto não foi das melhores (depois de esperar quase dez minutos para nos tirarem uma foto decente, a paciência foge e isso nota-se na foto, lol), espero que compreendam.

Queria também dar as boas vindas a quem comenta pela primeira vez e pedir desculpa pelo atraso em visitar os vossos blogs… A semana passada foi muito dura, com uma formação aqui no trabalho e um exame final para o qual tive de estudar (portanto fiquei sem tempo para nada). Vou tentar pôr-me em dia o mais rapidamente possível.

E agora o assunto deste artigo: o meu projecto corrente, que é o vestido Burda Maio2008 modelo110:

Este vestido tem umas linhas bastante desportivas e vai-me dar a oportunidade perfeita para por a uso uma ferramenta que pertenceu ao meu avô materno e que a minha mãe me cedeu: uma máquina de aplicar molas de pressão, uma verdadeira antiguidade:


Em relação à confecção do vestido, aparentemente é muito simples mas tem alguns detalhes que podem confundir as principiantes; um deles é o molde da gola, que é usado para cortar a parte de fora e a parte de dentro da gola na dobra do tecido. A gola não é simétrica, do lado esquerdo termina na orla do meio da frente e no lado direito prolonga-se para levar uma mola de pressão; por isso temos que cortar o lado esquerdo (molde sem margens de costura incluídas, que foram acrescentadas depois a cortar o tecido):


Outra questão que pode confundir é a aplicação do fecho; não vou repetir aqui os passos descritos nas instruções, mas aconselho a que os leiam com muita atenção; para ajudar a visualizar o objectivo vou mostrar o que devem obter depois de aplicar o fecho:


Exactamente, o fecho é aplicado AO CONTRÁRIO, de modo às fitas ficarem para fora no lado direito! Isto é feito assim porque depois a guarnição da frente vai esconder as fitas do fecho e o avesso ficará mais perfeito sem se verem as fitas:


E o lado do avesso fica assim:

Os bolsos laterais são aplicados de outra forma; primeiro a guarnição e só depois o fecho, seguidamente as funduras do bolso. Para terem uma ideia, aqui está uma foto da aplicação da guarnição no AVESSO do vestido (ainda não se coseram as costuras laterais):

E depois de virar a guarnição para o direito, assentar a ferro e pespontar:

Em seguida é só colocar o fecho por baixo e pespontar ao longo da abertura; as funduras são aplicadas depois segundo as instruções da Burda e finalmente só depois se cosem as costuras laterais, com o bolso completo, que apanham a fita do fecho e a orla da fundura inferior. Uma nota apenas para dizer que os fechos foram feitos por encomenda para este vestido, uma vez que os queria na cor, comprimento e cor de metal correcta para este projecto. Fiquem bem e até à próxima!

My picture wasn’t one of the best (imagine posing for 10minutes before a decent picture could be taken: my patience ran out and my face expression shows it!), but I hope you understand my reasons.

I’d also like to welcome the new commenters and ask for your indulgence for not being able to keep up to date on my blog reading… Last week was very demanding work wise: I took a certification course and the final exam on Friday so all my free time was dedicated to studying. I will try to catch up as soon as I can.

And now for this entry’s subject: my current project, the May BWOF mod110 dress:

This dress is quite sportive in style and will provide the perfect opportunity for putting an antique tool into use: this is a tool that belonged to my grandfather and it is used for setting in metal snaps (the not sew-in type), among other things:


As for the construction process, in spite of the apparent simplicity, there are a few details that can confuse the beginners; one of them is the collar pattern, which is used to cut two collars (the inside and the outside collar) on the fold. The collar is not symmetrical: the left side ends at the front edge and the right side extends further the edge (and takes a snap) so it must be cut differently (the pattern has no SAs included, you can see how I added them when cutting the fabric):


Another matter that can be confusing is the zippered opening and the zippered pockets. I’m not showing every construction step but I advise you to pay close attention to the instructions; to help you visualize what you should be getting in the end, here are pictures of the zipper, before attaching the external facing:


Yes, you saw it right: the zipper is set with its tapes outwards, on the RIGHT side! This is correct because when applying the external facing the tapes will be hidden and thus also invisible from the wrong side:


And this is the wrong side:

The side pocket zippers are set differently: first you apply the external facing, followed by the zipper and the pocket bags for last. To give you an idea, here’s a picture of the facing after being stitched in place on WRONG SIDE of the dress (the side seams are unstitched at this point):

After turning the facing to the right side, pressing and topstitching its outer edge:

Next you should place the zipper underneath, topstitch the edge of the opening catching the zipper tape and proceed as stated in the instructions for applying the pocket bags and stitching the side seams. A last note: I had to order these zippers made to measure so I could get the right color, length and metal type. See you soon!
