Casaco Burda em croché: terminado – Burda crochet jacket: finished

Terminei o casaco na semana passada mas só hoje tive tempo de escrever sobre ele. Estou a vesti-lo com o vestido Jocavi, pois este casaco foi originalmente planeado para usar com este vestido, mas vendo as duas peças juntas, há algo que não gosto muito; não sei se as cores se o decote do casaco junto ao decote do vestido… Não é que fique mal, só acho que o casaco fica mais valorizado se for usado com uma peça de cor lisa. Por exemplo, com uma blusa de alcinhas azul e calças de ganga, fica mesmo bem porque se tira partido do contraste das cores e do decote aberto nos ombros.
I finished this project last week but only today I had the time for writing about it. I'm wearing it together with the Jocavi dress because this was the intended purpose for this jacket, but seeing the two garments together I can't say I totally like the overall effect. I'm not sure I can point my finger at what feels wrong though; maybe the mixed pattern color or the dress neckline together with the jacket's… It's not a complete "no" but I can say this jacket looks much nicer with a blue spaghetti strap top and blue jeans. The color contrast - if this jacket is worn together with solid colors - is more appealing to me somehow.

Esta barra foi feita utilizando agulhas de 4mm (para o casaco utilizei 4.5mm) para que o casaco ficasse mais junto ao corpo ao usar. Os ombros ficam descaídos mas não caiem, mantendo-se o decote como vêm na 1ª foto. No global gosto deste casaquinho, é ideal para os dias de verão mais frescos (e este ano temos tido muitos por aqui!). Como tinha previsto, ficou um pouco mais largo que o original da Burda mas até gosto assim! Se alguém quiser fazer este casaco, tentem um fio mais macio e uma agulha de 4mm.
I crocheted this band using a 4mm needle so the jacket would hug the body better when worn (for the jacket I used a 4.5mm needle). The necklace is wide at the shoulders but I can say for sure now that it won't fall off. I like the overall result: this jacket is ideal for those sometimes chilly summer days (we have been having a lot of those over here!). As I predicted, this jacket is not as close fitting as the BWOF's original but I kind of like it this way. If anyone is willing to make this jacket, you can try a softer yarn and a 4mm needle instead for a different look.

Casaco Burda em croché: em execução – Burda crochet jacket: ongoing

Um pequeno intervalo na costura do vestido só para vos mostrar o estado do casaco de croché: este casaco faz-se num instante. Como já vos tinha dito, agulhas de 5.5mm são demasiado grandes para este projecto; a Katrin sugeriu as agulhas de 4mm mas neste fio o resultado não foi muito animador; resolvi então tentar a sorte com agulhas nº 4.5 e, para já, parece estar a correr bem, embora tenha a certeza que o casaco não vai ficar tão justo como no modelo original. As cores estão mais vivas que na realidade para facilitar a visualização dos pontos empregues e as pontas dos fios ainda têm de ser rematadas.
I'm making a short break from sewing the dress just to show you my progress on the Burda crochet jacket: this jacket is very quick to pull through. As I mentioned before, 5.5mm hooks are just too much for this jacket; Katrin commented that her choice would be 4.0mm but I tried this and the result wasn’t good for this yarn, so I’m taking my chances with 4.5mm hooks instead; so far so good though I can see that this jacket won’t be as close fitting as the BWOF original. Colors are brightened so you can distinguish the stitch detail better; the loose ends are yet to be finished.

Depois de fazer todos os motivos A, inclusivamente dois incompletos (motivos B), juntam-se todos através de pequenas flores crochetadas a vermelho para formar uma frente junta com a cabeça da manga:

Depois de fazer a outra frente e manga ainda tenho que fazer uma barra parecida com o trabalhado dos punhos em torno do decote e orlas da frente, além dos tirantes, mas isso fica para a próxima!
Next I must crochet the other front & sleeve and also a narrow band that goes around the neckline and along the front and back edges. The stitch is very similar to what I've done for the cuffs; oh, and I must crochet the ties too, but that will have to wait now!

Falando de croché… – Talking about crochet…

Bem, é verdade que não tenho tido muito tempo para o croché ultimamente (outras prioridades entretanto) mas com o tempinho quente a chegar acho que vou começar a adiantar os trabalhos.
It is true that I've been neglecting my crocheting work lately (there has been other priorities) but the perspective of the upcoming hot weather season is making me feel like crocheting more in the future.

Aqui está o estado actual do vestido preto de croché (relembro que por motivos de copyright não posso partilhar a receita mas com as fotos do trabalho em execução penso que poderão fazer um vestido muito semelhante sem dificuldade):

Here is the current status of the black crochet dress (I don't include the pattern here because there are copyright issues involved but I think that by following my progress you can make a dress just like this one if you wish):

As costas estão prontas e a frente ainda vai no começo; depois ainda tenho que fazer o barrado da saia.
The back is finished and I'm just starting the front; I still have to make the crochet lace skirt.

Ao lado tenho o fio de algodão que tenciono usar e até já tenho um tecido (crepe de seda) que me vai permitir fazer algo a combinar, talvez um vestido ou uma saia, quem sabe? A minha escolha de duas cores foi inspirada pelo tecido; estou a pensar fazer as rosetas grandes do casaco no tom azul, criando o efeito de flores oposto ao do tecido.
You can see the 100% cotton yarn that I'm planning to use for this project; I was inspired by the "crepe de soie" fabric you see on the left; I'm thinking on reversing the color pattern like making the round motifs (flower like) in blue. The fabric is enough for a dress or a skirt matching the crochet jacket.

Fiz uma amostra com o ponto de base e agulhas de 5.5mm como aconselham as instruções e descobri que usando estas agulhas o ponto fica mesmo muito maior do que o pretendido. Quero experimentar com agulhas 4.5 ou até 4mm e ver se consigo uma amostra do tamanho correcto.
I did a small swatch for the basic stitch using 5.5mm crochet needles, exactly as per the instructions, only to find out that the gauge is way too big (with this particular yarn). Now I plan to make another swatch using 4.5 or even 4mm crochet needles and see if I can get the right gauge for this jacket.
