Pois é, algumas de vocês que me seguem há mais tempo hão-de lembrar-se deste projecto da revista Phildar nº 450 (edição Francesa) que iniciei em 2007:

Comecei a fazê-lo em preto e depois acabei por perder o entusiasmo,… Mais tarde tentei terminá-lo mas faltou-me o fio de algodão preto e o projecto acabou por ficar de lado. Estas férias resolvi pegar no modelo de novo e com uma linha de algodão nova (na quantidade suficiente!) cor castanho mel, e terminei o vestido.

Some of my earliest followers might recall this crochet project that I started back in 2007. It’s from the #240 Phildar magazine (French edition)

I was using black cotton yarn and ended up losing interest, after a few setbacks; I remember I picked it up again later only to find out that there wasn’t enough yarn to finish the dress, so I put it aside. Well, during my break I decided to make this dress again, using a different yarn (making sure that I had more than enough to finish the dress).

Falando de croché… – Talking about crochet…

Bem, é verdade que não tenho tido muito tempo para o croché ultimamente (outras prioridades entretanto) mas com o tempinho quente a chegar acho que vou começar a adiantar os trabalhos.
It is true that I've been neglecting my crocheting work lately (there has been other priorities) but the perspective of the upcoming hot weather season is making me feel like crocheting more in the future.

Aqui está o estado actual do vestido preto de croché (relembro que por motivos de copyright não posso partilhar a receita mas com as fotos do trabalho em execução penso que poderão fazer um vestido muito semelhante sem dificuldade):

Here is the current status of the black crochet dress (I don't include the pattern here because there are copyright issues involved but I think that by following my progress you can make a dress just like this one if you wish):

As costas estão prontas e a frente ainda vai no começo; depois ainda tenho que fazer o barrado da saia.
The back is finished and I'm just starting the front; I still have to make the crochet lace skirt.

Entretanto também me interessei por esta jaqueta traçada que vem na Burda de Maio:

In the meanwhile my eyes got caught by this crochet jacket featured in the BWOF May issue:
Ao lado tenho o fio de algodão que tenciono usar e até já tenho um tecido (crepe de seda) que me vai permitir fazer algo a combinar, talvez um vestido ou uma saia, quem sabe? A minha escolha de duas cores foi inspirada pelo tecido; estou a pensar fazer as rosetas grandes do casaco no tom azul, criando o efeito de flores oposto ao do tecido.
You can see the 100% cotton yarn that I'm planning to use for this project; I was inspired by the "crepe de soie" fabric you see on the left; I'm thinking on reversing the color pattern like making the round motifs (flower like) in blue. The fabric is enough for a dress or a skirt matching the crochet jacket.

Fiz uma amostra com o ponto de base e agulhas de 5.5mm como aconselham as instruções e descobri que usando estas agulhas o ponto fica mesmo muito maior do que o pretendido. Quero experimentar com agulhas 4.5 ou até 4mm e ver se consigo uma amostra do tamanho correcto.
I did a small swatch for the basic stitch using 5.5mm crochet needles, exactly as per the instructions, only to find out that the gauge is way too big (with this particular yarn). Now I plan to make another swatch using 4.5 or even 4mm crochet needles and see if I can get the right gauge for this jacket.

O fio é 100% algodão Ancora Criativa 100g=124m para agulhas desde 4.5 até 5.5mm.

Vestido em croché: as costas - Crochet Dress: the back

As costas estão terminadas (falta o folho que é feito quando a frente e as costas estiverem unidas) e até agora gastei três dos nove novelos que mandei vir da Phildar, pelo que penso que nove novelos são suficientes para fazer este vestido. Como o Verão ainda vem longe, não tenho pressa em terminar este projecto. No entanto queria mostrar-vos o que tenho feito até agora e resolvi pregar as costas do vestido ao manequim e tirar umas fotos:
The back of the crochet dress is finished (minus the crocheted hem that will be done after both front and back are finished and joined as one) and so far I've used tree of the nine skeins ordered from Phildar. Now I can say for sure that nine skeins will be enough to finish this project and I can slow the pace down (summer is still far away…). I wanted to show you my progress so far;for that purpose I pinned the back of the dress to my dressform and took some pictures:

Este vestido vai ficar justo ao corpo e para poder ser vestido leva um fecho de lado. Também estou a pensar forrar a parte opaca da saia para evitar que deforme e para que não fique transparente.
This will be a close fitting dress; the instructions mention a side zipper, or else I wouldn't be able to put it on. I'm thinking of adding some kind of lining to the skirt (not to the crocheted hem, only to the upper skirt) to prevent the stitch from stretching and also to avoid seeing through it.

Vestido em croché: em execução - Crochet dress: ongoing

Um pequeno interregno para vos mostrar como está a decorrer a execução do vestido em croché; tive que desmanchar o que tinha feito da cintura para cima pois estava a ficar grande em proporção ao resto do vestido e às minhas medidas. Estou a fazer o vestido no tamanho 2 (38/40) mas diminuí para 1 a partir da cintura. Eis o resultado:

I would like to make a small break to to show you my progress on the crochet dress; I had to undo from waist up because it was becoming too big in proportion to the dress and to my figure; I started this dress as a size 2 (European size 38/40) but I had to downsize to 1 from waist up. Here is the result:

A minha preocupação é, acima de tudo, validar que tenho todo o algodão que necessito para acabar o vestido, pelo que depois das costas estarem concluídas irei abrandar o ritmo de execução (é um vestido para usar no Verão, não há necessidade de ter pressa). E agora quero ver se costuro um bocado! Até breve!
My main concern here is to validate that I have all the yarn I need to finish the dress, hence I will slow down the rhythm as soon as I have half the dress done (it's a summer dress after all, no need to hurry). And now it's time to do some sewing! See you soon!

Aqui está o que tenho feito até agora (a cor parece cinza mas é o efeito do flash; o fio é preto):
This is what I have done so far (the color isn't showing as black as it is because of the flash light):

A base do vestido (onde depois se vai aplicar a beira rendada) é ligeiramente arredondada e também se nota já as diminuições nos lados para contornar a anca.
The bottom edge (where the flounce is to be attached to the dress) is slightly rounded; note also the beginning of the hip contour on the sides.
