Bolero Gedifra: concluído - Gedifra Bolero: finished

Apresento-vos a minha primeira peça de roupa concluída em 2007:
I give you my first 2007 finished garment:

Penso que ficou bem para quem tem relativamente pouca experiência em tricô como eu! Afinal não cheguei a bloquear todo o bolero; o que fiz foi um teste com uma das mangas (enquanto terminava a outra) para determinar se realmente valia a pena. Depois de bloquear, a manga ficou mais estendida e punho mais aberto mas passado um dia de repouso pouco se notava. Assim sendo, decidi não bloquear de todo.
I think the result is fine for a non expert knitter as I am! I didn’t block it after all: what I did was a test on the finished sleeve first to determine if blocking was worth doing in this case. After blocking, the cuff stood wide open, looking fine; the next day it returned to its previous form, so I guessed there was no added value in blocking if you are using this kind of yarn.

E aqui está, visto de costas; notem que as costas são um pouco mais compridas do que dá a parecer a foto da revista (só aparece lá o bolero visto de frente), mas o efeito é muito bonito porque o ponto fantasia usado “abraça” o corpo na cintura.

Here is the back view; note that it’s longer than you could imagine from the model’s picture (there’s only the front view in the magazine) but this gives it a nice “hugging” effect seen from behind.

Finalmente podem observar o detalhe do fecho do bolero à frente; escolhi usar um alfinete de peito em vez de um botão com olhal porque penso que sobrepondo as duas frentes evidencio mais o feitio do bolero; além disso, se fizesse como ditam as instruções, o botão ficaria escondido por dentro da peça, não a valorizando.
Finally, this is the front closure detail; I choose not to follow magazine’s instructions for using a button and eye and I opted for a chest pin instead. The button wouldn’t be visible and it wouldn’t overlap the front edges like you see in my version.

Bolero Gedifra: em execução - Gedifra Bolero: ongoing

Finalmente já posso mostrar algumas fotografias do meu trabalho de tricô em curso! Este bolero saiu na revista Portuguesa Tricot Edição especial 7 e é muito mais fácil de fazer do que parece. No site da Gedifra (ver aqui), podem constatar que este modelo corresponde ao modelo 905 da revista Highlights nº62. A receita pede agulhas de 6mm e 750g de fio Gedifra cinzento cor nº7793, qualidade “Akona” (50% lã, 30% poliamida e 20% alpaca, cerca de 69m/50g). Como tinha já uma lã de que gostava muito (cinza clarinha e com um brilho acetinado muito subtil), resolvi tentar este bolero com essa lã que, sendo muito mais fina, teve de ser tricotada com fio triplo.
Finally, I have some pictures of the Gedifra Bolero, my “yarn eater” ongoing knitting project! I found this bolero in Tricot Magazine, a Portuguese knitting magazine but you can find it in the Gedifra Highlights n62 (click here). The recipe calls for 6mm needles and 750g of “Akona” yarn, color #7793 (50% wool, 30% polyamide and 20% alpaca). I already owned this mystery silver gray yarn that I bought from a local yarn store so I decided to use it instead. This yarn is thinner and I had to “triple” my feed, but this turned out just fine.

Bem, este bolero revelou-se um verdadeiro “comedor de lã”: obrigou-me a ir comprar mais pois as 800g que tinha não chegavam. No total, neste tipo de lã (da qual não sei a composição e a metragem/50g), vai levar cerca de 1200g!!
This bolero turned out to be a real “yarn eater”: the 800g of yarn I had available weren’t enough and I had to “refill” with 400g more!

Podem ver aqui as vistas e gola (tudo em redondo) onde depois se apanham as malhas para fazer a parte superior das costas (no meio). A frente é constituída pelas próprias vistas e decote. Podem ver que o ponto é trocado (avesso pelo direito) para permitir a viragem do decote).
Here they are, the “collar/lower back/front” (all in round) and the upper back is cast on it; the stitch is reversed on the collar so it looks nice on the right side.

Já tenho uma manga pronta e podem observar o bonito detalhe do punho neste bolero. As mangas são depois pregadas às cavas das costas e às vistas do decote que também são a frente do bolero (não sei se percebem a construção, de início foi confuso até começar a fazer a parte redonda e a imaginar a dar a volta no pescoço).
A sleeve is already done and you can see the lovely cuff detail. Sleeves will be sewn to the back armscye and to the rounded part that shapes the front armscye (I hope you can understand how this bolero is put together; it was a little confusing at first but I understood how as soon as I could imagine it around my neck).

Devem notar que não uso agulhas sem barbela; foi assim que aprendi, ainda em criança, e todas as agulhas que herdei da minha mãe são assim. Também só sei tricotar pelo método “Português”, ou seja com a linha pelo pescoço e com duas laçadas no dedo médio da mão esquerda. Já fiz umas mitenes usando 5 agulhas de ponta e até foi mais fácil do que pensava, pareceu-me que permite tricotar mais rápido; só não dá tanto jeito para rematar…
I don’t use pointed needles, that’s because I first learned how to knit as a child and using this kind of needles (see picture). All the needles I own were my mother's and are like this, exception made to a set of five pointed needles I bought just to make a pair of mittens recently. I really enjoyed knitting with pointed needles, they seem to go faster, but casting off is more difficult. I also knit by the “Portuguese Purl Method”. Por último, quero chamar a vossa atenção para um erro na receita deste bolero na revista Tricot: onde se lê “Depois trab. 3x as 17ª-32ª v “ deve ler-se “Depois trab. 23x as 17ª-32ª v “.
There’s a glitch in the Portuguese directions for this bolero (not translated).
