Não posso deixar de mencionar alguns artigos recentes que me mencionaram a mim e ao Couture et Tricot. O primeiro é a publicação Inov@r, a revista da PT Inovação, que noticiou a exposição “Couture et Tricot” (ver aqui mais detalhes sobre a exposição):

Para mim foi uma grande surpresa ter sido mencionada num artigo da revista “Notions” da American Sewing Guild, artigo intitulado “The New Sewing Enablers”, que em Português traduz-se como algo assim: “Os novos meios incentivadores à costura”. O artigo foi escrito pela Samina Mirza, membro administrativo do American Sewing Guild, a quem devo agradecer também per me ter enviado um exemplar da revista!

Couture et Tricot is getting some press, dear friends and readers! First was the Inov@r magazine (a periodic newsletter printed and distributed at PT Inovacao), which featured an article on the Couture et Tricot Exhibit (learn more about the exhibit here):

It was with great surprise that I received notice that my blogs were mentioned in the summer issue of the American Sewing Guild's "Notions" magazine, side by side with some of my favorite sewing blogs! The article entitled “The New Sewing Enablers” was written by Samina Mirza, a staff member at the American Sewing Guild’s National Headquarters, who was so kind to send me a printed copy of the magazine! Há algum tempo fui convidada pelo Gabinete de Comunicação e Imagem da PT Inovação (local onde trabalho) para elaborar uma pequena mostra acerca do meu passatempo favorito. Hoje a exposição abriu e aqui têm algumas imagens em primeira mão, momentos antes da inauguração. Esta exposição reúne algumas das minhas peças favoritas, todas confeccionadas com dedicação e empenho, e também recordações de Amigas e Amigos que fiz durante o tempo de vida deste blogue! Some time ago I was invited by my Company’s Public Relations Office to put together a small exhibit about my favorite hobby; today the exhibit went open and here are a few first hand photos just before the grand opening. This exhibit includes some of my favorite pieces, all handcrafted with love, and also souvenirs of some friends that I had the great honor of meeting through blogging. Não sei se repararam mas por baixo do cabeçalho do blogue existem agora dois “links” (um em Inglês e outro em Português) para duas novas páginas onde poderão encontrar um índice dos principais passo-a-passo que fui publicando durante o tempo que o Couture et Tricot tem estado activo. Estes índices ainda estão em actualização, uma vez que o trabalho de os produzir é bastante moroso. Espero que ajudem quem passa aqui à procura de conhecimento nesta área. Fiquem bem!

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I’ve added two new pages to this blog (the web links are right below the blog title): they are indexes (in Portuguese and in English) to the main tutorials that have been published on this blog. The pages are still under construction and I hope they will provide an easy way to find relevant information. Please notice that in the earlier tutorials, the English text is in yellow; the more recent articles have a bilingual functionality: the default language is Portuguese but below the post title you’ll find a language combo box that will enable the English text (just uncheck the Portuguese language box and check the English one). Please excuse any English mistakes; English is not my native language. Enjoy!

Na Burda Portuguesa de Agosto – Featured in the August issue of the Portuguese Burda

Queridas leitoras e amigas, regressada de férias não posso deixar de mencionar a minha participação na Burda Portuguesa de Agosto, onde expliquei passo-a-passo como fiz o colete de lantejoulas da revista nº1 (Junho de 2010) seguindo um método diferente do mencionado nas instruções da revista e que consistiu essencialmente em trabalho de costura manual (a parte exterior de tecido de lantejoulas foi completamente cosida à mão, e adicionei um forro que também foi aplicado à mão ao colete). Ficam aqui as imagens do resultado final e do modelo original publicado na Burda:



Relembro que a Burda Portuguesa está a aceitar a submissão de modelos confeccionados com os seus moldes (a partir do nº1 inclusive), com a possibilidade de serem depois publicados na revista (a submissão é de uma fotografia de corpo inteiro tirada no exterior a usar o modelo confeccionado por si; é obrigatório que a foto tenha alta resolução para ser impressa na revista). Quanto às férias, descansei bastante, praticamente não usei a internet e só comecei a costurar alguma coisa no fim-de-semana passado (publicarei em breve o que fiz), que era exactamente o que necessitava para “descomprimir”. Agradeço a todas as que continuaram a visitar o Couture et Tricot e envio um abraço especial às novas leitoras que têm comentado. Os meus leitores são espectaculares e a única razão que me motiva a continuar com este blog e a partilhar o que vou fazendo.

Queria também deixar um esclarecimento adicional quanto ao meu blog de guarda-roupa e estilo pessoal Tany et La Mode: este blog que comecei há pouco tempo não é acerca de costura nem manualidades, por isso não interessará às leitoras focadas somente nesses assuntos. Depois de algum tempo em que o blog esteve acessível a todos, resolvi por motivos pessoais torná-lo privado, acessível apenas por convite/subscrição. Recentemente reparei que os blogs privados têm um limite de 100 leitores, limite esse que está a ser ultrapassado pelo número de pedidos que tenho recebido… Ainda não decidi o que vou fazer, mas estou a ponderar a possibilidade de reabrir o acesso público.

Para terminar um grande abraço a todas/todos, obrigada pelo vosso carinho e compreensão… Hoje vou tentar começar a ler a minha “enorme” lista de blogs e ver o que vocês têm feito!

Dear readers and friends, I’m back from my vacation and first of all I’d like to share my latest feature in the August issue of the Portuguese Burda, in which I explained step-by-step how I sewed the sequined vest from the Portuguese nº1 issue (the June issue). I diverged from the Burda’s original instructions and used a lot more hand sewing techniques, also adding a lining to the vest (the outer shell was entirely sewn by hand and the lining was also hand sewn to the vest). Here are the images of the final result and also the original model:



As for my vacation break, I feel renewed and rested. I barely used the internet, and I didn’t sew at all until last weekend. This was exactly what I needed for “decompressing”. I really appreciate all your comments and cheering and I also would like to welcome the new readers. My readers and friends are awesome and the only reason that keeps me moving forward with the blog and sharing what I sew.

I’d also like to make an additional clarification concerning my other blog Tany et La Mode. It is not a sewing blog, it’s a personal style/wardrobe blog and so it won’t be of interest to those of you who seek mainly for sewing knowledge and sewing inspiration. Tany et La Mode is a fairly new blog and after an initial trial period I decided to turn it private (accessible by invitation only) for personal reasons. Later I found out that blogger has some limitations for private blogs which are pretty inconvenient: it only grants access up to a limit of 100 readers and accounts other than gmail will expire in one month, needing monthly renewal. Since I’ve been getting many access requests and some people are experiencing problems in accessing, I am considering turning it public again, but first I must give it some more thought.

Finally, a big hug to all my readers and friends, THANK YOU so much for being here for me... I’ll start going through my tremendous blogroll starting from today and try to catch up with all that you’ve been doing.

Já todas(os) devem saber que este mês saiu a Burda Style editada em Português… É uma iniciativa que saúdo e acarinho pois tenho a certeza que contribuirá para que o hobby de costurar seja mais facilmente difundido e aperfeiçoado pela comunidade de expressão Portuguesa em todo o mundo!

A editora da Burda contactou-me com um pedido muito especial antes do lançamento; pediram-me que escrevesse um pouco sobre a minha história e o papel da Burda na minha contínua aprendizagem desta arte. Nesta primeira edição da Burda Style em Português podem encontrar um artigo que escrevi a contar a história de como tudo começou para mim e como a Burda esteve lá no início e ao longo do meu percurso:

Este número traz modelos muito bonitos, dos quais mostro alguns exemplos:

Espero fazer o colete em breve e também gostei muito das calças, aliás acho que fato completo está o máximo.

Outro modelo que me chamou à atenção foi estes calções, que poderiam ser confeccionados em napa ou cabedal fino (um estilo presente em alguns dos desfiles actuais).


E não podiam faltar os maxi-vestidos flutuantes e românticos, outra tendência desta primavera/verão!

Quanto às minhas actividades de costura correntes, estou um pouco parada por motivos diversos; decidi mudar o tecido do projecto em curso e depois de ter pensado em várias alternativas decidi-me por um piquê branco e cetim estampado para o forro… Já tenho o molde traçado e falta-me apenas tempo para por mãos à obra!

You must already know that this month the Portuguese Burda Style was released… I salute and cherish this initiative because I think that it will enable the Portuguese speaking community all over the world to get access to a multitude of sewing info in their native speaking language, thus spreading the scope of the sewing art knowledge.

The editors of the Portuguese Burda Style contacted me a few months ago asking for my collaboration, in terms of an article stating my early sewing path and how Burda played (and still plays) an important role in my sewing education. Here’s the article (sorry, no English translation at this point; basically I explain how a neighbor dressmaker aided me along my first steps operating a sewing machine and how her work and extensive Burda collection inspired me to start sewing my clothes):

This issue features a lot of interesting patterns, here’re a few examples:

I plan on making this vest soon, using some printed sequined fabric from my stash. In fact I love the entire outfit and might make the trousers too.

Another model that caught my eye was these shorts; they can be made up of leather or leather-like fabric, for achieving a very trendy piece (leather shorts are a strong trend for spring this year).


And, of course, there are also flowy and romantic maxi-dresses!

As for my current sewing activities, I went through some lack of sewing mojo (and lack of time too) but I plan on being back on the saddle soon. There was a change of plans concerning my current project: I decided to use another fabric for the coat and the lining and after debating a little on what fabric to use, I ended up choosing this white cotton pique and the printed satin for the lining. Now all I need is some time to get the coat done!
