Apresento-vos o meu próximo projecto de costura: todas as mulheres deveriam ter um vestido simples e direito como este no seu guarda-roupa.

I present you my next sewing Project: every woman's wardrobe should include a simple straight dress like this one.

Trata-se de um vestido simples e direito, com painéis laterais e um fecho invisível atrás; o contorno do corpo é conseguido através de pinças na frente (no peito e na anca). Pode fazer-se também um cinto do tecido que sobra para combinar. No modelo original o tecido usado é seda selvagem estampada. É classificado como de fácil execução mas demorado(**/*****).
This is a simple straight dress, featuring side panels and a back invisible zipper; the fit is improved by horizontal darts (chest and hip). A matching self-fabric belt can also be made to emphasize the waist. The original model is made from dupion silk. This pattern is rated as easy to sew but time-consuming (**/*****).

Notions needed (from the magazine):
- tecido: 1,75m (1,4m de largura)
- fabric: 1,75m (1,4m width)
- fecho invisível de 60cm
- invisible zipper (0,6m long)
- entretela termocolante fina para as vistas
- thin fusible interfacing for the facings

Bem… Na revista assumem que o vestido não vai ser forrado mas eu vou forrá-lo; além disso, a experiência anterior com o tecido risca-de-giz que vou usar (ver foto na entrada anterior, o terceiro a contar de cima) diz-me que este tecido enruga muito e mantém pouco a forma. Sendo assim também vou entretelar o vestido todo com entretela de malha fina para estabilizar o tecido. Vou tentar brincar um bocado com as riscas, dando-lhes uma direcção diferente nos painéis laterais mas para isso talvez seja necessário mais tecido do que o especificado. Vou ter primeiro que garantir que tenho tecido suficiente.
The magazine instructions assume that no lining is needed but I intend to sew a lining for this dress. My previous experience with the pinstriped fabric that I plan on using to make this dress tells me that this particular fabric wrinkles a lot and it needs stabilizing; therefore, I will interline the dress completely using thin knit fusible interfacing (the same I used for the lining cuffs on the Orwell coat). I will play a little with the pinstripes, they will be horizontal on the side panels and vertical on the front and back panels; because of this maybe I'll need more fabric than what the original model calls for this so I must check if I have enough fabric first.

Vou então acrescentar a esta lista os seguintes materiais:
I add the following to my previous notion list:

- forro: 1,20m (1,4 de largura)
- lining: 1,20m (1,4 width)
- entretela de malha fina: 2,6m (0,8m largura)
- thin fusible knit interfacing: 2,6m (0,8m width)

Também pensei que seria engraçado acrescentar uma renda à bainha do forro, que não será visível mas que dá sempre um toque de requinte;
I also think it would be fun to add lace to the lining hem; this lace won't be visible but it adds value to the dress.

- Tira de renda: 1,1m
- Lace for the hem: 1,1m

Outras coisas necessárias: tecido para testar o molde antes de o cortar no tecido final (musselina), linhas e um colchete para a abertura do fecho.
Other notions needed: enough muslin fabric to make a test garment and a hook/eye to secure the zipper opening on the final dress.

Ainda não comprei todos os materiais de que preciso mas entretanto posso ir traçando o molde e começando a fazer a "musselina". Da próxima vez vou mostrar o molde e a preparação da musselina para a primeira prova!
I didn't buy all the notions yet but in the meanwhile I can trace the pattern and prepare the muslin. I will show you how on my next blog entry on this dress!
