Casaco Orwell #18: As mangas (2ª parte) - Orwell Coat #18: The sleeves (Part two)

After making the sleeve belts (if you want to recall this procedure, click on Orwell Coat #10, where I show how to make the pocket flaps; to make the belts the procedure is very similar), next step will be stitching the loop belts in place (see Orwell Coat #17). In the next picture you can see the loop belts pinned in place (upper edge):

After stitching the upper edge, I determined the exact loop width and marked it with my chalk pencil:
To stitch the bottom edge you must turn the loop aside (I hope the picture explains better than me):
Finally the SAs are trimmed and hand stitched in place to make a better finishing:
See the loop belts with the belt in place:
To later ease the sleeve cap, I made two parallel rows of stitching between the easing notches, one on each side of the seam line (that's because this fabric allows it; if dealing with fragile fabrics, both these stitching lines should be placed on the SAs side). The stitch length should be set to its maximum and the needle thread should be loose; the sleeve's right side should be facing up:
Next step will be sewing the inside seam:
As for any seam, I first press along the seam to meld the stitches into the fabric:
These are the pressing tools I'll be using to press the sleeves and to ease the sleeve cap: a pressing roll, a sleeve board and a pressing glove:
You can see in the next picture the seam roll being used to press open the inside seam (first I trimmed SAs to 1cm):
Fiquem bem!
Finally here is the cuff with the belts in place; I didn't apply the piping on the cuff's edge yet because I want to check the sleeve length again after setting in the sleeves. Next I'll explain how I ease the sleeve cap and how I set in the sleeves. See you soon!

I love this coat with its piping and topstitching. I also like the way you show all the details of your process. I know it takes time to photograph and describe everything, and I appreciate it.
