Casaco Orwell #15: A gola e as vistas (2ª parte) – Orwell Coat #15: Collar and facings (Part two)

Antes de unirmos as vistas/parte de cima da gola ao corpo do casaco/parte de baixo da gola, temos que aplicar o vivo ao longo do bordo da frente e parte superior da gola; como sempre deve-se golpear os valores de costura do vivo nas partes arredondadas. Há um sítio difícil, que é o ângulo interno entre a gola e a lapela, que deve ser cosido à mão antes de cosermos o restante vivo à máquina (vejam a figura seguinte):
Before stitching facings/uppercollar to the coat's body/undercollar, I must attach the piping to the front and undercollar edges. As always, I clip the piping SAs at rounded edges and I pin the piping in place before I stitch it. There is a difficult spot (the inward corner between collar and lapel) that should be hand stitched first; the zipper foot won't be able to sew this inward angle properly (see next picture):

Depois unem-se as duas camadas pelas orlas da frente e gola, tendo o cuidado de sobrepor exactamente as linhas por onde se deve coser; depois de coser deve-se escalar os valores de costura (os das vistas ficam maiores ao longo da gola e lapelas; na orla da frente os valores de costura das frentes é que devem ficar maiores) e golpear nas partes redondas e ângulos, tentando sempre que possível desencontrar os golpes das várias camadas de tecido e vivo:
Next I overlap both layers together (right sides facing each other and coat's body/undercollar facing up) and I stitch along the edge; SAs must be graded and clipped (this is very important! Clip every corner, every round edge, if possible making sure that clipped SAs don't match on both layers) before turning the facings into place. When grading SAs, keep in mind that collar/lapel's SAs should be trimmed larger on the facings, the opposite for the front edges.

Reparem também que em baixo cosi a vista à beira inferior do casaco, golpeando no ângulo recto; ao virar, esta parte da bainha já fica feita e faltará só coser a restante à mão:
Also note that the front facing is stitched along the front hem; SAs are graded along the hem line and clipped at the corner's edge:
Depois de virar as vistas, as costuras do decote nas vistas e corpo do casaco devem ser presas com alfinetes (sobrepondo as linhas de costura) e pespontadas à mão com pontos atrás largos (que se tornam invisíveis dentro costura), de forma a manter tudo no sítio antes de trabalhar as orlas:
After turning the uppercollar/front facings so that their wrong side is facing the coat's wrong side, I pinned neckline stitched lines together overlapping each other exactly; this time I'll hold them in place permanently by hand stitching a long back stitch through the overlapped neckline stitching lines; I remove pins as I go:

As orlas devem ser alinhavadas com linha de seda (como mostro nas figuras), para depois serem bem assentes a ferro:
The edges should be hand basted with silk thread (thin embroidery thread will do just the same) and carefully pressed (not done yet):

If anyone calls, Ill be topstitching! The only thing missing to finish the coat's body (besides the white topstitching) is the hem! I hope this small collar/lapel tutorial is clear to everybody!
