EN: I am very fortunate to have made good friends all over the world thanks to my sewing passion and this blog. When I heard about this magazine I reached out to one of my French friends, the very talented Isabelle who shares my love for sewing and knitting, author of the Fluffy Fibers blog&podcst. She promptly got me this almost sold out at the time special issue and the first garment I made form it was the asymmetric knit top with frill insets.

PT: Considero-me muito afortunada por ter feito bons amigos por todo o mundo, graças à minha paixão pela costura e este blogue. Quando descobri acerca desta revista, contactei uma dessas amigas em França, a super-talentosa Isabelle, que partilha comigo o gosto pelas artes manuais e é a autora do blogue&podcast Fluffy Fibers. Desde logo ela prontificou-se a arranjar-me a revista, já quase esgotada na altura. A primeira peça que fiz, mal recebi a revista foi este top de malha com recortes assimétricos e folho embutido.

EN: The base pattern of this top is exactly the same as the Le003 dress that I've made a couple of weeks ago so I was sailing familiar waters. The only additions are the two overlapped frills along the diagonal seam across the front and back. I used golden ponte knit for this project (I am not sure I can call this ponte, because it has a good amount of cross grain stretch,... It didn't need a zipper on the back seam) and it turned out fabulous, just in time for wearing on NYE dinner with my family!

PT: A base do molde é exatamente igual à do vestido Le003 que fiz recentemente portanto navegava por águas conhecidas. A única adição são os dois folhos que se sobrepõem, ao longo da costua diagonal frente e costas. Usei uma malha Ponte Roma dourada (embora não sei se é exatamente Ponte Roma, porque tem bastante elasticidade na horizontal - não foi preciso fecho de correr atrás) e ficou espetacular, mesmo a tempo de usar na a ceia de Passagem de Ano com a família!

EN: The only issue with the pattern/instructions was the small frill that is supposed to be applied  partially under the longer diagonal frill. The small frill has three sections, one is stitched along the diagonal front seam along with the top longer frill, the 2nd section is stitched to the shoulder and the third section is stitched along the sleeve cap/armhole. If I follow the placement instructions exactly, this pattern piece should be cut reversed on the fabric, yet the cutting layout doesn't indicate is as reversed, quite the opposite, so one of two things is wrong: the cutting layout or the writings on the pattern together with the instructions drawings. I ended up cutting the small frill reversed because there was enough fabric left for that, and I assembled it according to the directions written on the pattern and instructions.

PT: O único problema com o molde e respetivas instruções foi o folho mais pequeno, que é aplicado parcialmente por baixo do folho grande; este folho tem 3 secções identificadas: uma é cosida na costura diagonal da frente, por baixo do folho maior, depois a segunda atravessa o ombro até à ponta do ombro e a terceira secção é cosida ao longo da cava/topo da manga. Para seguir as indicações no molde e os esquemas na revista, este folho mais pequeno deveria ser cortado virado para baixo no tecido, ao contrário das restantes partes do molde, no entanto o esquema de corte indica o corte com todas as peças viradas para cima; uma de duas coisas está mal: o esquema de corte ou as indicações no molde/esquemas da revista... Optei por cortar o folho pequeno novamente, desta vez com o molde virado para baixo (tinha sobrado tecido suficiente) e segui as indicações no molde/instruções.

PT: Como podem ver, o folho maior faz um efeito muito bonito ao percorrer a frente e depois parte das costas:

CONCLUSION: The final result was outstanding and I highly recommend the pattern in spite of the small discrepancy on the cutting layout (unless somewhere along the way I miss interpreted something...). I also looked at another pattern in the magazine, the flared culottes with front box pleat, and I found another problem, this time on the pattern grading... The crotch curve was constant through all the sizes (!!), it was just shifted but it's dimensions remained the same. I guess the pattern grader inserted values as if he/she was grading a skirt and culottes are part skirt, part trousers,... the crotch curve should increase in length and depth with size. It will be OK for smaller sizes but, if I cut size 42 it will not fit on me for sure. I know enough to fix the pattern though (I have the DP Studio books and know how to draft the base culotte pattern for my size; then I just slash the pattern and close the darts, flaring at the bottom hem as on an A-line skirt, and add the front box pleat); I plan on making the culottes sometime soon.

I am showing this top before the completed blazer Le100 because I still didn't take the final photos of the blazer,... When I do, I will share the photos of the entire outfit on me (blazer, pants and top).

CONCLUSÃO: O resultado final do top é fabuloso e recomendo vivamente o molde, apesar do pequeno problema do plano de corte (a não ser, claro, que não seja problema e eu tenha interpretado mal, o que pode sempre ter acontecido,...). Na revista também olhei para outro molde, o das culotes largas com macho na frente e aí descobri um erro mais grave, na gradação do molde: a linha do gancho manté-se constante em profundidade e largura para todos os tamanhos. O que aconteceu é que quem inserio o valor das evoluções por tamanho no sistema informático que produz os diversos tamanhos inseriu valores para saia; ora as culotes são tanto saia como calça, e a evolução do tamanho deve ser prevista para a altura e profundidade do gancho. O que acontece neste molde é que os tamanhos pequenos vão servir, mas se cortarem um tamanho maior como o 42, as culotes vão ficar muito apertadas ou mesmo impossíveis de vestir. Sei o suficiente para corrigir o mold epara o meu tamanho, pois tenho os livros DP Studio que ensinam a traçar as bases culote para qualquer tamanho; depois é só fechas as pinças na base, abrindo o molde e produzindo o efeito linha-A, e acrescentar o macho na frente, a coincidir com a costura do gancho. Gostei do modelo e planeio ainda faze-lo.

A razão pela qual estou a mostrar este top antes do post final do blazer Le100 é ainda não ter tido tempo de tirar fotos com o blazer. A ideia é tirar as fotos a usar o conjunto completo, também com as calças.
