EN: The sample jacket uses two fabrics (sherpa and a jacquard/sequined fabric on the left front) and I really liked the "dual fabric" concept so I went looking for suitable coordinating fabric; I fount it in the home decorating section and it's a nice textured jacquard which holds its form well. I am using this fabric not only to cut the left front but also the pocket facing, under-collar and jacket facings (it adds much less bulk than the sherpa and it holds its shape better, providing some extra structure to the jacket).
The wide slanted welt pocket on the right front: there are two lining pocket bags (the smaller is the outer pocket bag and the larger is the inner pocket bag), a welt (cut from sherpa, interfaced, folded lengthwise right sides facing, stitched along smaller sides, corners clipped/seam allowances graded, turned into the right side) and the pocket facing (cut from the jacquard fabric); the pocket bags are prepared as seen in the following photo: the welt is stitched to the outer (smaller) bag along the straight edge, right sides facing (SAs are 3/8" with this pattern); the pocket facing is zigzag stitched on top of the inner pocket bag (larger), wrong side to right side:

PT: A jaqueta usa dois tecidos (carneira e um tecido jacquard com lantejoulas na frente esquerda) e como adorei o conceito bi-matéria, decidi fazer a minha o mais parecida possível. Encontrei um tecido para coordenar na secção de decoração: é um jaquard em relevo com um padrão e cores que condizem com o tom da carneira. Tem algum corpo o que é ideal para dar alguma estrutura extra à carneira, que é mole. Além de cortar a frente esquerda neste tecido, cortei também a vista do bolso, a gola inferior e as vistas da jaqueta (o que também ajuda a controlar o volume extra da carneira).
O bolso inclinado de pestana larga na frente direita: tem duas funduras em forro (a mais pequena é a exterior e a maior é a interior), a pestana (cortada de carneira, entretelada, dobrada direito com direito no sentido do comprimento, extremos pequenos cosidos, cantos aparados/costuras gradadas, depois virada para o direito) e a vista do bolso (cortada no tecido jacquard). Começa-se por preparar as funduras cosendo a pestana, direito contra direito na orla reta da fundura exterior (mais pequena) com valor de costura 1cm (é o valor padrão destes moldes); depois aplica-se a vista sobre a fundura interior (a maior)) com um ponto de ziguezague a toda a volta, avesso da vista sobre o direito da fundura:
EN: The fronts of the jacket were fully interfaced but I fused another layer (rectangle) to reinforce the pocket placement and cutting line; I also marked the ends of the cutting line with basting thread tails; although the pattern marking is a rectangle (representing the stitching lines, two parallels 3/4" apart), my reference is the cutting line in the middle because the pocket bag seam lines will meet at the cutting line.

PT: As frentes da jaqueta foram completamente entreteladas, mas ainda reforcei mais o lugar da abertura do bolso na frente direita, aplicando um retangulo adicional de entretela. Marquei os extremos da linha de corte com alinhavos; o molde tem marcado um retângulo que representa as linhas de pesponto, a 2cm de distância uma da outra mas a minha referência é o meio longitudinal do retângulo, ou seja a linha de corte, pois é aí que as margens das funduras devem alinhar-se:

EN: To finalize the pocket, the welt sides should be stitched down to the front; it can be done by hand or by machine; slip-stitching by hand assures the cleaner finishing, just make sure to use a double strand of thread and some beeswax to strengthen it:

PT: Para finalizar, os extremos da pestana têm de ser fixados; pode ser feito à máquina, mas o acabamento à mão com pontos invisíveis é o mais "limpo". Os únicos cuidados a ter são usar linha dupla e fortalecer a linha com cera de abelha, pois os extremos estarão sujeitos a alguma tensão.
EN: Some of you may be thinking that the sherpa is a difficult material; it's spongy and bulky but it can be sewn easily and even pressed, if some precautions are taken. I used a bath towel to avoid flattening it with the pressing and depending on its composition, there could be problems with direct contact with the iron. The safest way to press is using a teflon cover or a press cloth. I used something in between: a teflon press cloth, a gift from my friend Paco:

EN: There's one last detail of this jacket that I wanted to share: the sleeve caps have a dart. This avoids some of the problems when trying to ease the sleeve cap on difficult fabrics, because most of the ease is absorbed by the dart:
