EN: The skirt pattern is featured in one of my treasured/rare Burda International magazines, the 3/1995 issue. Model 925 is a wrap mini-skirt (not too short) that closes with two buttons on the waist and a high-low effect on the front wrap. The skirt has no waistband (it sits on the natural waist) and is fully lined.

O modelo 925 é uma mini-saia de trespasse (não demasiado curta) que fecha com dois botões posicionados ao nível da cintura; tem o pano da frente mais comprido e também não tem cós (assenta na cintura natural. Este modelo é forrado.

EN: I cut size 40 without altering the pattern. As you can see, it's a quite simple pattern: the back is cut on the fold and the two front panels are cut separately on a single layer (right side facing up) and have all-in-one facings included. The back lining pattern is the same as the skirt's and the front lining patterns are drafted excluding the facing width (turning it in and drafting the outline on the respective front skirt panel). The front facings should be interfaced and since there's no separate waistband or waist facings, the waist area should also be interfaced (1 ½ inch width is enough). The instructions mention interfacing the skirt lining around the waist too (again, 1 ½ inch is enough). Besides interfacing, I also fused a on-grain stable tape at the waistline on the skirt, to prevent it from widening with wear.

PT: Cortei o tamanho 40 sem alterações. Como podem observar, o molde é bastante simples: as costas são cortadas na dobra e os panos da frente são cortados numa camada de tecido com o lado direito para cima. Os moldes dos panos da frente têm a vista seguida incluída. Quanto aos moldes para o forro, os das costas é o mesmo, mas para as frentes é preciso dobrar a vista para dentro e excluir a largura da vista na saia. As vistas da frente devem ser entreteladas e, uma vez que não há cós ou vistas da cintura, a área da cintura também deve ser reforçada com entretela com 4cm de largura. As instruções também aconselham entretelar com 4cm de largura a área da cintura no forro da saia. Além destes reforços também usei fita de reforço termo-colante estável na linha da cintura da saia, para evitar que alargue com o uso.

EN: It's also important to point out that I bagged the lining (it is completely stitched by sewing machine to the skirt, except for a small section used to turn the skirt to the right side), and there is an ease pleat at the hem so the lining doesn't pull on the skirt. It is easy to cut the lining so this pleat is formed when it is sewn to the skirt: when cutting the skirt I added 1 ½ inch hem allowance to the fabric, while when cutting the lining I added just 3/8" hem allowance.

PT: Também é importante referir que cosi o forro completamente à máquina na saia (exceto uma pequena secção usada para virar a saia para o direito e depois fechada à mão), incluindo à bainha da saia, onde fica uma dobra para evitar que o forro repuxe a saia ao usar. Para formar esta dobra basta cortar a saia incluindo 4cm de margem de bainha, e o forro apenas com 1cm de margem de bainha.

EN: The skirt turned out very beautiful and goes perfectly well with the coat. The overlap is not too wide, so it may open on the front leaving a little too much to see... I had to figure out a way to prevent that from happening: first I used a large snap inside but it caused some noticeable bulk so I removed it. Now I'm using a plaid pin or brooch (the kind used with Scottish kilts sometimes) when wearing it.

PT: A saia ficou muito bonita e conjuga perfeitamente com o casaco. O trespasse não é muito largo, por isso há o risco da saia abrir e expor o que não devia,... Tive de pensar em soluções. Primeiro apliquei uma molda de pressão por dentro, mas ao usar notei que se notava um pouco o seu volume e não gostei. Retirei a mola e agora uso um alfinete de kilt ou broche, do mesmo tipo que às vezes se usa com os kilts Escoceses.
