EN: To find out more about the So Chic Box Couture Kit and their exclusive DP Studio's patterns and fabrics, check out DP Studio website (here); this kit  and the So Chic Box collection is sold exclusively by Hamon Paris (click here). You can read about the unboxing of this kit (here), and find my construction notes here and here. I have ordered the kit from Hamon Paris paying full price (this is not a sponsored post) and I am sharing my experience because it can be useful to others. I like DP Studio's patterns for their concept, originality and design, and I own and have sewn many of their patterns. I also ordered the books which teach the DP Studio method of pattern making. The patterns and construction methods are designed according to efficient and high quality luxury RTW industry standards. 3/8" seam allowances are included in the pattern, which is more industry compliant than the usual 5/8"; yet there is not much room for adjustments as you go with the narrower SAs; a test garment is highly recommended, not only to practice the construction techniques and your understanding of the pattern, but also to make sure the pattern fits you exactly as intended. These patterns are not aimed at the beginners since it takes some experience and know-how to interpret the pattern and the instructions. I love the challenge.

Eu adoro o desafio que estes moldes me colocam.

EN: I was drawn to this jacket design immediately. I also loved the fabric (a very soft and light boucle-like 100% wool) and thought that its colorway would provide many wearing possibilities with other garments in my wardrobe. The finished jacket is extremely light; it feels and wears like a cardigan, actually. Shoulder pads were not demanded and the only sleeve cap structure is provided by the interfacing and the "cigarrette" (a technique revisited from the tailors where a sleeve-head is made using a bias strip of the fashion fabric about one inch wide and of the length of the sleeve cap "notch to notch"; this strip is folded in half lengthwise and sewn to the sleeve cap seam by hand, with the folded edge facing down towards the sleeve). Regarding the lack of shoulder pads, I was a little skeptical at first, because, well, it is a tailored sleeve. It seems to work well with this fabric though, like it does with the classic Chanel-style jackets. If I make this model again from a different fabric, I will try applying light shoulder pads to structure those shoulders a little more.

EN: The fabric has the "stripes" running horizontally; I decided to make the jacket like the original so the lower fronts are cut on the crosswise grain for this version. I love the pockets and the little raised collar which fades into a V-neckline on the front. The design is so simple yet it does not lack ingeniousness.
---
EN: The French-written instructions provide a course on a well developed industrial technique for the lined vents, both on the back and on the sleeves.
---
EN: The sleeve vents are worn open, without buttons (this jacket is also worn open; there's no front closure), which adds to the relaxed vibe of the design:
---
EN: Here's the jacket inside out; my only alteration to the pattern was shortening the sleeves slightly.
---
PT: Aqui têm a jaqueta do avesso; a minha única alteração ao molde foi encurtar ligeitamente as mangas.
EN: I really like the end result and even though I now have the pattern to make it in any fabric, I feel really temped to buy the black wool version (I notice the fabric has a slight furry effect and I love it!). High quality fabrics at affordable prices are really hard to find where I live...
Hope you guys enjoyed this sewing journey. I've made yet another garment from a So Chic Box kit, which I plan on reviewing next. Stay tuned.
---

This is stunning! I love the jacket and as always it's so well done. I wish that they would sell just the pattern. For a seemingly simple jacket it is wonderfully designed. I may have to break down and see if they sell to the US.
