EN: I have been feeling a lot of stress lately related to health issues and a few life setbacks. I was advised to keep my stress levels as low as possible, reduce the workload and spend more time doing what I really love doing. Foi aonselhada a acalmar um pouco e como tal conter a carga de trabalho e passar mais tempo a fazer o que realmente gosto. EN: Lets talk about the So Chic Box sewing kit. Having everything you need to make a garment in one box (including the designer's picked fabrics, notions and pattern) is actually a great idea, if made affordable. When this collaboration came out I was really excited and the first kit that caught my eye was the LOUISE jacket kit with the tweed fabric (there are other LOUISE kits with different fabric options), so I ordered it immediately. The kits didn't seem too expensive to me and the only setback was the shipping cost from France to Portugal (around 20 euros); even so, considering the local price of good quality fabrics and notions, I thought it would be worthy and it did. The box is very well presented and packaged; the quality of the included goods is above average, in my opinion. In the case of these kits, the description and the instructions are written in French, there are no English description and/or instructions (the notes in the pattern itself are in French and English, though).

PT: Vamos então falar um pouco dos kits de costura So Chic Box. Confesso que o conceito de obter tudo o que necessito para fazer uma peça única de uma só vez numa caixa, incluido o tecido eleito pelo designer, o molde e os aviamentos, é uma ideia que me agrada bastante, desde que o preço não seja impeditivo. Quando esta colaboração foi anunciada fiquei bastante entusiasmada e a peça que me saltou desde logo à vista foi a jaqueta LOUISE na sua versão tweed (há mais kits desta jaqueta com outras opções de tecidos), por isso encomendei-a logo. Os kits não me pareceram demasiado caros, tendo em conta o preço dos tecidos e aviamentos aqui em Aveiro, além do tempo que se perde a procurar tudo, e a única desvantagem foi mesmo os portes, que de França para cá foram em torno dos 20 euros. Mesmo assim, dada a qualidade do conteúdo do kit, acho que compensou mais do que comprar apenas o molde (opção essa que para já não está disponível). A caixa é muito bem apresentada e embalada e todo o seu conteúdo tem qualidade que justifica plenamente o preço. No caso destes kits, as instruções/descrição vêm apenas em francês, embora as anotações no molde de papel estejam em Francês e Inglês.
EN: The pattern can be described as a jacket without buttons or button cross extension (in French this style is called "bord à bord"); it is structured an unstructured at the same time, with a well defined straight rectangular shape. The collar starts as a raised low collar on the back and fades into a V-neckline on the front. The front has a horizontal cut where in-seam pockets are located. There are two-piece tailored sleeves with an overlapped vent (the vent is left open without any kind of closure/buttons) and the same type of vent is installed at the base of the center back seam of the jacket. The jacket is fully lined for added comfort and in my opinion it is very modern, elegant and of course, chic:

PT: O modelo pode ser descrito como jaqueta sem botões nem trespasse para fecho (em francês o termo é "bord à bord") e é estruturada e desestruturada ao mesmo tempo, com a sua forma retangular pouco ou nada acinturada. A gola baixa começa nas costas mas vai desaparecendo na frente ao formar um decote em "V". Existe um recorte horizontal na frente e os bolsos estão metidos nessa costura. As mangas são de alfaiate (duas folhas) com abertura trespassada na base dos punhos, que fica aberta sem qualuqer tipo de fecho ou botões. Na base da jaqueta atrás, instalada na costura do meio das costas, existe outra abertura ou racha da mesma natureza. A jaqueta é totalmente forrada para total conforto e na minha opinião é moderna, elegante e claro, chique:

The only remark is that the tape that came in the kit is not enough for reinforcing all the indicated areas; I had to cut extra tape from the interfacing material provided. Regarding fabrics, lining and fusible interfacing, the quantities provided were more than enough.

PT: Podem ver a fita termo-colante na foto seguinte; basicamente são tiras de entretela cortadas no correr do fio, por isso podem fazê-la vocês mesmos. O carrinho de linhas grande é da Coats. No caso da fita, quantidade incluída no kit não foi suficiente para reforçar todas as áreas indicadas e tive de fazer mais da entretela fornecida. De resto, tanto o tecido, o forro e a entretela vieram em quantidade mais do que suficientes para este projeto.

PT: No fim-de-semana passado copiei o molde (tamanho 42), ajustei o comprimento das mangas, medi e verifiquei todas as costuras para tera certeza que tudo encaixava, cortei, entretelei e marquei os tecidos e tendo tudo preparado ainda consegui coser uma boa parte da jaqueta. Só lhe vou pegar de novo no próximo fim-de-semana pois até lá não tenho tempo para a costura. Até agora estou a adorar a experiência e o resultado final promete! Apetece-me comprar os kits todos e fazer uma coleção, hahaha (pregunto-me se compensaria com os custos de envio,...).

Can you only get this pattern in the kit? I've looked at the pattern site and couldn't find it.
Nancy, I don't think the pattern is available solo; I saw someone ask that same question to Dominique Pellen on IG and his answer was that these patterns are exclusive for the kits, at least for now...
I think the kit is a good idea but I would have liked to be able to buy the pattern only though the kit is sold at a good price.
Sorry to read that you are suffering from stress and other problems. Sewing is a good way to relieve stress so I hope that can help you. Do please keep up with your blog, I so enjoy reading it and hope you will continue. Meanwhile best wishes and I hope you can overcome the stress, although it is a difficult thing to deal with.
Tany, so sorry to hear you are having health and stress issues. I wonder how you do get time to sew so much with full time work and a family. I work full time and just don't seem to get the energy to sew. But you are much younger than me :) Hope you are feeling better soon. Don't worry about reducing your blogging. You have been so generous with all your posts. Just keep showing us what you have made - maybe via Instagram?. Even just some photos without any further content would be so appreciated. So much inspiration. The kit sounds a wonderful idea. Can't imagine how much postage would be to Australia. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
