“Presenting the model, materials used and notes on the princess seams”
Alterations to the original model:
- Since I only had 4 buttons, I decided to skip the two buttons on the waist; I still have one button left, maybe to use on another matching garment (I still have some fabric left!)
- I added raglan shoulder pads, though the instructions don’t mention using them; in fact, without the shoulder pads, the jacket wouldn’t fit well on my shoulders. To set the shoulder pads in I simply hand stitched them to the sleeve’s upper SAs, using long running stitches:

You’ll have to wait for the pictures of me wearing the jacket because I’d like to show it together with another bottom from my spring/summer list, as a full outfit and not with the jeans I have on today, lol.
So what’s next? First I have some gifts to finish and send out in the mail and when I’m done, I’ll start on my white Simplicity jacket, for which I already have gathered all the notions (including the buttons!). I will talk about my plans for this jacket and show you the materials soon! Big hugs to my readers, who always take some of their precious time to visit and leave their wonderful comments!

Yaaaaay! Your jacket is really really cool! Great details and so unbelievably neat! I wish you a lot of fun and joy wearing it!
Bravo! What a beautiful jacket. I always appreciate your attention to detail. I really look forward to seeing pictures of you wearing the jacket.
Beautiful. Those buttons are just right for this jacket.
Girl it is just FAB! I love those buttons!!!
Beijos,
Audrey
wow yet another impeccably made garment. I love reading your blog although I do not comment much as I am a newbie seamstress but I wanted to thank you for all your illustrations because they are an inspiration
I love that jacket. Great job on the snaps. I prefer those to buttonholes.
Great jacket with absolutely perfect buttons!
its beautiful Tany
Beautiful jacket! Once again, you really paid attention to all the details and I just really adore seeing all those shots. Can't wait to see the whole outfit!
Fabulous Tany!! Enjoy wearing it.
It will be fun to see what you do with that famous Simplicity pattern next. :)
Very nice! Now I know how mine is supposed to look whenever I get to making it! The details are superb as always.
The jacket is lovely and like the snaps. I'd purchased a suit some time ago with large snaps and have been wanting to try them on a jacket somewhere down the line. After seeing your jacket, I will definitely try it.
Great work on the jacket, it looks so perfect, I adore the sleeves.
Beautiful!!! Loving the covered snaps too....you should do a tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
Angie R.
Tany, its stunning! And I love all of the extra special little details ~ like the covered snaps. These have become my new favorite things to make so I'm looking for another project to put them on. Thank you for sharing another wonderful project and I can't wait to see your interpretation of S3631!
Gorgeous once again, Tany. The buttons are perfect, as are all your details.
Tany, this is very beautiful. I would not have a look at it seeing in the Burda Magazine but yours is absolutely great.
I especialle love the lining and the buttons. How good that you kept the fabric in your stash. It is so trendy in the moment.
Regards and hugs,
Katrin
Paco
Dear friends, thank you so much for your nice words! Sool I'll post a tutorial on how I covered the snaps.
Queridos amigos, muchas gracias!
Peacockchic and Meg, welcome to Couture et Tricot!
Beijinhos
The jacket is beautiful. This is on my must sew list for my fall wadrobe. But I think now I will do it in more lightweight fabric for chilly summer days.
Bjs
Mónica
great jacket. Love the color and the buttons. As always a fab job.
Tany, this is just beautiful! You have gorgeous details! Can't wait to see it on you!
Cheers!
Oi Tany
Beijinhos!
Perfection as always!
Amazing job as always! The jacket is beautiful, your workmanship is great and you were so clever about the buttons... no one could tell you were short, one could swear the jacket was meant to be like that!
Now I really want pictures of you in that jacket! A big hug, my dear friend.
So perfect! It is made for spring, a very decent but elegant colour.
As it was mentioned before, the pattern did not get my attention too, but with your work you showed the great possibility of this pattern.
Best regards
Claudia
This is just beautiful! I agree, makes me want to take a second look at this garment. Thanks so much for sharing your construction techniques as well as the finished product of your work. Exquisite.

Once again Tany, you have outdone yourself. That is such a beautiful jacket and I hope you will have many years of wear with it. Love the snaps and the buttons are just perfect.
Tany....you are an incredible seamstress. I love the jacket and look forward to seeing it worn with the matching pants.
I too think that the covered snaps are fabulous and I would love it also if you could do a tutorial on it.
Thanks sooo much for the wonderful inspiration. x
Tany, a gorgeous jacket. I truly love the lining fabric. It feels very peaceful.
Breathtaking jacket, Tany. Thanks so much for sharing all the details.
Miriam
Beautiful and such precise attention to all details.
