EN Summary: The printed jersey used to make this dress carries a lot of sentimental value to me, as it was a gift from a very dear friend who sadly passed away a couple of years ago. Keep reading the full article on tanysewsandnits.blogspot.com.

EN: Paco was fabric shopping when he spotted this fabric and immediately thought of me. That's the kind of person he was, getting out of his way to make a friend happy with a thoughtful gift... I finally decided to turn this lovely jersey print into a dress and opted for something simple to highlight the fun print and make a dress that I could wear in the upcoming beach season. The pattern chosen was featured in 2017/04 Burdastyle magazine: model 104A (size 40).

EN: The dress has ruching on the sides and center back seam, a wide round neckline, a back yoke with an opening and short sleeves. I used mostly my serger and coverstitch machines to sew it up (the neckline binding was top-stitched with my straight stitch industrial sewing machine though).
---

EN: I followed the magazine's instructions for the most part, using stay tape to secure the ruching, but instead of stitching the seams with the regular sewing machine (a narrow zigzag for stretchy seams is advised) and pressing seams open, I used my serger with a 4-thread ultra-strech mock safety stitch for all seams.
---

EN: This jersey is very thin and soft so it was difficult to avoid tunneling on the cover-stitched hems, even by threading the looper with wooly nylon:
---

EN: Here's the back view with the yoke and the back bias bound edged opening (it was finished as the neckline):

EN: Other add-ons to the magazine instructions were using clear elastic to stabilize the shoulder seams and the bottom edge of the back yoke, along with applying "Steam-A-Seam 2" 1/4" (double stick fusible web tape) on the bottom and sleeve hems before coverstitching them.
---

Thank you all for dropping by!

Precioso Tany, me encanta.
