EN: The fabric makes the design justice: it holds its shape and the texture and color makes it really special. When unfolding the piece of fabric I noticed the stretch was on the straight-grain, instead of cross-grain so I cut the jacket (and the shorts shown in more detail in the end of my last post) on the cross-grain to keep the stretch horizontally. I was really happy that I could squeeze in a pair of shorts and make it a suit instead of a solo jacket!

Quando abri a peça de tecido reparei que era elástico no sentido do comprimento e não na largura, por isso cortei a jaqueta (e os calções que mostrei com mais detalhe no final do artigo anterior) no sentido da largura, ou atravessado, para garantir que a peça ficava com a elasticidade na horizontal e não na vertical. EN: Look how neat from the inside, with mitered corners and bagged lining; the sleeve is lined before it is sewn to the armhole; the lining armhole seam is sewn after the sleeve is sewn to the bodice, grabbing the lining armhole and lining sleeve from in between lining and jacket. It seems difficult (and it makes quite a roll of fabric to manipulate!), but it makes perfect sense and allows the sleeve lining to be sewn to the sleeve entirely by machine.

perfection is right! such sharp and precise sewing, it looks great. And I might have to try bagging the lining sometime, I always hand sew it in.

Anonymous: I followed the pattern instructions to the letter, using fusible interfacing and stabilizing fusible tapes (so modern speed tailoring techniques). You can read my posts on this same pattern, sewn from boucle. I show the process more thoroughly

I'm making a linen jacket using a Burda WOF pattern, and am so glad of to get ideas about how to go about doing the tailoring, or whether or not to tailor at all.
