EN: Released in the new Fall Vogue patterns collection, V1647 is described as Misses' jumpsuit, fitted through bodice with flared pants, contrast insets and center back invisible zipper. The bodice is lined and there are in-seam pockets on the side seams. The description on the website says separate pieces are included for different cup sizes, but it must have been a mistake, because there aren't pieces for different cup sizes included.

HOW TO FIT THE JUMPSUIT: If you are a B cup, chose you size according to the full bust measurement and check the finished waist measurement indicated on the pattern for the necessary wearing ease. the pants are quite roomy at hip level so unless you have very large hips in proportion to the torso, there shouldn't be any problem. If you are a C cup or higher, perhaps it is better to pick the size by your high bust measurement and not your full bust measurement, and do a FBA (Front Bodice Adjustment) to this pattern. I would suggest the method used for performing a FBA to a princess seam bodice as described in this Bluprint article (here) and I would also strongly recommend sewing a muslin first, in any case.  The side panels are slightly eased into the front panel and that effect must be preserved. Another fitting aspect that should be addressed with the aid of a muslin is the vertical dimensions throughout the bodice and the rise (the rise is the distance from your front waist to your back waist by way of your crotch). Check the waistline placement and the crotch (you don't want it too tight or too slouchy). There's no need to sew the trim insets on your muslin (unless you want to practice the technique) - just ignore the placement lines and sew the pieces together with a 5/8" allowance as usual); you can also shave off the allowances from the neckline and armholes to get a better idea of how the finished garment will look like on your figure. Just remember that any alteration to the bodice should be reproduced on the facings and lining pattern pieces as well. I've recently lost some weight and I'm a B cup now, so the bodice of size 14 fits me perfectly without the need of a FBA.

FABRICS USED: Suggested fabrics are crepe, silk dupioni, ponte knit; for the contrast the suggestions are charmeuse, chantung; for lining: china silk. I decided to use a very high quality super 120's wool/kid mohair blend suiting that I had in my stash. For the contrast I used black linen.
---

EN: The contrast trim has separate pattern pieces, marked with alignment notches. They are cut to the exact measure so they should align perfectly. Beware that there is a tendency to stretching because they are cut on the true bias, but they shouldn't be stretched. It's easier to mark the placement lines with chalk and then pin or hand-baste the bias-cut trim aligned with the placement lines; the stitching was done at the width of my industrial sewing machine foot, aligned with the edge of the trim. Next the trim is pressed towards the allowance and machine basted at a scant less than the final seam allowance width (the second row of stitching seen on the left. This second row of stitching will serve as a stitching guide to stitch the front panel to the side panels later.
---
EN: The following video shows the stitching of the side panel, using the second row of stitching as a guide (stitching a scant to the left of the second row of stitching). Also note the side panel being eased into the front panel at bust level.
---

EN: This is how the front looks with one of the side panels already stitched to it:
---
EN: After stitching the other side panel, the bodice back is stitched to the front at the sides and shoulders; The inner shell (armhole/neckline facings plus lining) is constructed and stitched to the outer shell at the neckline and armholes; all edges must be under-stitched. The pants are stitched with the in-seam pockets on the sides. Then there's another trim to stitch along the waist seam, before joining the bodice to the pants portion. The lineament of the trims and crotch seam should be perfect.
---
EN: In the next video I show the inseam pockets; notice that the contrast trim is applied to the back panel of the pants, making it easier to construct the pockets. The inner pocket bag is cut of self-fabric, while the outer pocket bag is cut of lining fabric, and stitched a little inside the seam allowance:
---

EN: I finish my construction notes on the jumpsuit with a photo of the labels,... (I really miss him so much). I will post photos of the finished garment later. Thank you all for reading along...
