EN: The pattern is one of the DP Studio original patterns included in a 2017 special issue of the French magazine Modes&Travaux, which was kindly gifted to me by Isabelle from the blog Fluffy Fibers. We met a few years ago in Paris and remained friends so when this magazine came out I reached out to her and asked her to me a copy before the issue was sold out.

EN: The pattern is very simple, consisting of a slight A-line skirt with waist facings and back invisible zipper, with an added flounce insertion on the front alone that makes it move beautifully as I walk. I cut it in size 44 without any alteration, after measuring the pattern directly and comparing with my body measurements and preferred ease around the hips. I added a cotton voile lining to this skirt, that stops at the beginning of the flounce, to make it easier.

PT: O molde é muito simples, tratando-se de uma saia ligeiramente evasé com vistas na cintura e fecho invisível atrás, onde foi adicionado um encaixe estilo babado só no fainel frontal. Este encaixe proporciona um movimento muito bonito ao andar e a folga necessária sem a necessidade de aberturas. Cortei o tamanho 44 sem modificações, depois de medir o molde diretamente e comparar as suas medidas com as do meu corpo, incluíndo a folga que pretendia. A única alteração que fiz foi acrescentar um forro de cambraia só até a altura do babado, para ser mais simples.
EN: There wasn't much fabric left after finishing the skirt so I looked for a simple tank top pattern for woovens. I found this pattern in the April 2017 BurdaStyle magazine and loved the overlapping side seams and the bias edging that set this top apart from the basic tank top.

PT: Já não tinha muito tecido de sobra depois de terminar a saia, por isso procurei um top de cavas simples para tecido e não malha. Encontrei este molde na revista BurdaStyle de Abril de 2017 e adorei os detalhes que elevam este top do simples e básico: as laterais sobrepostas e o vivo em viés aplicado nas orlas.

EN: I called the edge finishing "bias edging" not by chance; it should not be confused with bias binding. The folded bias strips are applied to the right side of the fabric, raw edges with raw edge of the fabric, then stitched at 3/8" from the edge. Then the raw edges are finished with the overlocker, pressed towards the garment on the wrong side and topstitched close to the seam on the garment side. I cut 3/2" double-gauze stripes for this, for their added body and texture; the finished folded bias edging is 3/8" wide when it's finished, extending the edge of the top and not binding it. I am very happy with the result.

PT: Chamei o acabamento das orlas de vivo em viés e não debrum, por acaso. As orlas não são debruadas, são avivadas. Cortam-se tiras em viés de 4cm de largura do tecido a utilizar (no meu caso foi gaze dupla, pela textura e corpo), dobram-se ao meio e cosem-se às orlas, com as beiras cortadas coincidindo com a beira do tecido do top. Cose-se a 1cm da orla, faz-se o acabamaneto com a corta-se -cose das margens juntas e assentam-se estas margens para o interior da peça, ficando a dobra do vivo para fora. Depois é só passar um pesponto sobre as orlas assentes sobre o top e já está. O vivo dobrado fica assim saliente, com 1cm de largura e gostei muito do resultado final.
CONCLUSION: I am very happy with these too extra garments in my wardrobe and also with the fact that I managed to use the entire piece of striped lining viscose bled that I had.

CONCLUSÃO: Estou muito contente com estas duas peças extra e com o facto de ter conseguido aproveitar todos os bocadinhos do tecido às riscas de linho e viscose.
