PT: Estas peças foram confecionadas com moldes do livro edição especial da BurdaStyle "Essenciais do seu Guarda-roupa" mostrado neste artigo (clicar aqui), no entanto estes modelos também sairam na edição normal da revista BurdaStyle, e vou incluir também essa referência, para quem não tem o livro. Comecei com o top drapeado (modelo 01B do livro), no qual fiz algumas modificações devido à natureza do tecido:

The patterns were also featured in the regular editions of the magazine, so I will reference their magazine issue/model as well. The first garment is the cowl neckline draped top (model 01B in my book), made with a couple alterations mainly due to the nature of the fabric:

EN: The pattern was also featured in the October 2012 BurdaStyle magazine, model 112B, and it has regular full length sleeves (cut on the straight grain), cowl neckline and draped front, featuring a close fitting back adjusted by waist darts. The closer is on the center back: a long invisible zipper opening from the top of the back neckline, ending approximately 2" shy from the hem.
PT: Para este top cortei o tamanho 38, que me assentou como uma luva. As mangas são bastante justas, e para que se tornassem mais confortáveis neste tecido sem elasticidade, cortei-as em viés. Ora não tinha metragem suficiente para cortar as mangas compridas, por isso optei por fazer mangas a três-quartos.

EN: I cut size 38 which fitted me like a glove. The sleeves of this pattern are a bit on the close-fitting side, so I decided to cut them on the bias for comfort and better use of the plaid pattern (my fabric has no stretch). There wasn't enough fabric to cut full length sleeves on the bias, so I opted for three quarter length sleeves instead.
PT: A outra alteração que fiz foi no fecho invisível: em vez de o aplicar a abrir de cima para baixo, optei por colocá-lo invertido, ou seja a abrir de baixo para cima, começando na bainha e terminando a 5cm do decote das costas, o que permitiu cortar a vista do decote numa só peça. Na minha opinião é muito mais fácil vestir e apertar o fecho assim, e tratando-se de um top, é fácil fazer a alteração. Gostei muito do resultado final e acho que o xadrez dá um toque especial a este modelo, muito "Vivienne Westwood", não acham?

EN: The other change that I've made was the invisible zipper orientation: I decided to place it opening from the hem edge, ending at approximately 2" from the back neckline; it allowed cutting the back neckline facing as a single piece and it makes putting the top on and taking it off much easier, in my opinion. Since it is a top and not a dress, it's easy to make this alteration. I am really happy with how the top has turned out and I think the plaid gives it an elevated look, very Vivienne Westwood, don't you guys agree?

PT: A arte em fazer este conjunto ou qualquer roupa de tecido ao xadrez está em conseguir um alinhamento ótimo (experiência e paciência ajudam, pois é necessário cortar todas as peças com o tecido sem estar dobrado - cortar cada peça e o seu simétrico usando a primeira peça invertida, além de alinhavar as costuras antes de coser à máquina). Acho que consegui fazer um bom trabalho, apesar das limitações de ter o tecido dividido em três retalhos. O resultado final são três peças modernas, de acordo com as últimas tendências da moda e que resultam usadas em conjunto ou separadas. Além disso consegui gastar tecidos que tinha guardados, em vez de comprar mais tecidos. Espero que tenham gostado! Boas costuras e até à próxima!

EN: The art for making this set or any other plaid garment is achieving the perfect pattern alignment (experience and patience really help, because it's necessary to cut the fabric on a single layer layout; each piece has a symmetric which is cut using the first cut piece on top, only placed face down. It's also necessary to hand baste the seams before stitching). I think I did a pretty good job, considering the limitation of having three cut pieces of fabric instead of a continuous length. The final result is three garments that can be worn paired together or on their own, which are also modern and trendy. I was also able to use fabrics from my stash instead of buying more fabric, which was definitively a plus! Hope you guys have liked it! Until next time, Happy Sewing to all!
