EN Summary: This new coordinating set was made using fabrics/notions/patterns exclusively from my stash; keep reading the full article on tanysewsandknits.blogspot.com to find out more about it!

EN: Let's start with the vest: the finished garment has a turtleneck collar, kimono-style short sleeves, high-low hem (lower on the front) and an exposed metallic zipper on the front. There are hem and sleeve facings and the vest is fully lined. The fabric has been in my stash for a couple of years and it's a burnt-orange/black diamond jacquard with some stretch (unknown composition).
---

EN: The pattern used was DP Studio Le500, version b size 42 with a couple of alterations to turn it from a top with center back invisible zipper into a vest with exposed zipper on the front:

- eliminated the center back seam on the back pattern, subtracting the seam allowance width and cutting the back on the fold;

- altered the back lining pattern eliminating the center back seam-allowance and adding a center back ease pleat on the fold (3/4" deep);

- altered the front pattern and the front lining pattern adding 3/8" seam allowances to sew the zipper, instead of cutting the pattern pieces on the fold;

- modified the collar piece (inner and outer collar) adding 3/8" seam allowances at center front instead of cutting on the fold (I kept the center back collar seam).

---

- eliminei a costura no centro do molde das costas, subtraindo a margem de 1cm e cortando as costas na dobra do tecido;

- alterei o molde do forro das costas, descontando a margem de costura de 1cm mas adicionando uma prega de 2cm na dobra do forro (prega de folga nas costas do forro);

- alterei o molde da frente e da frente em forro adicionando margens de costura de 1cm no meio da frente em vez de cortá-los na dobra do tecido;

EN: The difference between version a and b are: version a is not lined and has a round neckline with neckline facing; version b is fully lined and has a turtleneck collar.
---

EN: The metallic zipper with the large ring pull was salvaged from an old parka jacket; I've been purging my wardrobe, donating some garments which could still be worn and tossing away many old clothes (in the latter case salvaging the buttons, zippers, etc.).
---

EN: The high-low hem is a key feature of this top and sets it apart from the ordinary:
---

EN: Next there's these carrot pants with original pleating that start from the top of the waistband; the pattern is DP Studio Le305, size 42 (the Jules pants SoChicBox kit pattern is now available as a single-purchase pattern!).
---

EN: The only alterations were omitting the back pocket (it didn't seem necessary as a design element with this busy print fabric) and my usual crotch alteration to this pattern (described in an earlier version, click here).
---
https://tanysewsandknits.blogspot.com
EN: Note that the pants have hip pockets and a side invisible zipper; the waistband starts under the side-most pleat, right above the pocket opening (I've cut the waistband on the lengthwise grain for stability because the fabric has stretch crosswise).
---

CONCLUSION: I've sewn these patterns over and over again with different fabrics and different features and they never get old, in my opinion. I'll get much wear of this coordinate both as a set and separates; both pieces are fun, original and easy to wear, matching my lifestyle completely.

Thank you all for reading!

It's a very chic outfit. Inspiring. Your shirt from the previous post too. I have some very nice severed linen that would make a find shirt. Thank you for the inspiration.
