O vestido é completamente forrado e o forro é cosido à mão às vistas e à fita do fecho atrás:

Conclusão: Este vestido foi simples e rápido de fazer (pelo menos para mim!): demorei uma semana. É um modelo que penso adequar-se bem a este tecido pela sua simplicidade e estilo retro e foi possível executá-lo com apenas 1,10m de tecido. O resultado final lembra os vestidos que se usaram nos anos 60! Não precisei de fazer qualquer alteração ao molde e estou a pensar utilizá-lo de novo com outro tecido pois gosto mesmo das linhas e da forma como assenta.
Conclusion: This dress was simple and quick to pull through (At least for me!): I took one week to finish it. The model is adequate for this fabric for its simplicity and retro style; 1,10m of fabric is barely enough to make this dress. The final result reminds me those dresses worn in the 60's! I didn't make any alteration/adjustment to the pattern and I plan to use it again in the future because this dress fits me like a glove!

As vistas no decote e nos ombros - Neckline and shoulder facings

Hi sewing Friends!

Como já tinha explicado, a confecção deste vestido é muito semelhante à do vestido Burda 01/2007 #106, com algumas diferenças, nomeadamente o traçado do molde (que já mostrei como se faz), o facto de não entretelar o vestido todo (este tecido não precisa, por isso apenas entretelei as vistas com entretela não tecida fininha) e, finalmente, o tipo de vistas e a sua construção. Hoje vou falar da confecção das vistas, mas primeiro vou resumir os paços de construção até ao momento da confecção das vistas:
As explained before, the making of this dress is very similar to the making of the BWOF 01/2007 #106 Dress, except for the tracing of the pattern (I already explained how I did it), for not interfacing the entire dress and, finally, for the facing type and construction. Today I will explain how I sew the facings but first let me go through the construction steps for this dress:

1 – Cortar o vestido e alinhavar as linhas de costura e outras marcações;
1 – Cut the fashion fabric and thread trace all the outlines and markings;

2 – Cortar o forro usando o molde depois de descontar as vistas e alinhavar as linhas de costura e outras marcações;
2 – Cut the lining using the same pattern after cutting off the facing width and thread trace all the outlines and markings;

3 – Coser as pinças do vestido (ver aqui como fiz para o vestido #106);
3 – Sew the darts (see here how I did this for the #106 dress);

4 – Fechar a costura do meio das costas até o sinal de abertura do fecho e coser o fecho invisível (ver aqui como fiz para o vestido #106).
4 – Close the CB seam from the zipper placement mark to the hem and apply the invisible zipper (see here how I did this for the #106 dress)

5 – Coser as costuras dos ombros no vestido;
5 – Sew the shoulder seams on the dress;

Este tipo de vistas chamam-se vistas à medida; ao contrário do vestido #106, os ombros e o decote formam vistas separadas e não uma vista inteiriça; isto é possível porque no vestido Paul Smith os ombros são largos o suficiente para acomodar vistas separadas.
This type of facing is called shaped facing; unlike the facing on the #106 dress, here the armholes and neckline have separate facings; this is possible because the shoulder seams are wide enough to accommodate two separate facings.

6 – Coser as costuras dos ombros nas vistas dos ombros e do decote; fazer o acabamento dos valores de costura das vistas com a corta-e-cose (excepto os valores de costura das orlas que são cosidas ao decote e às cavas). Podem ver nas figuras seguintes as vistas preparadas desta forma:

6 – Sew the shoulder seams on the facings (neckline and armholes); serge the all the SAs, except those which are to be stitched to the neckline and armholes. You can see this in the following pictures:

7 – Coser as vistas ao decote e às cavas, posicionando-as direito contra direito ao longo da linha de costura; no caso do decote, deixar a costura aberta por 6-7cm até ao fecho para fazer o acabamento da vista como foi mostrado para o vestido #106. Aparar os valores de costura, cortar os das vistas um pouco mais pequenos e fazer pequenos cortes ao longo das orlas curvas:
7 – Place the facings on the dress, right sides together, matching the armhole and the neckline seams; sew all around the armholes and neckline; on the back neckline, leave 6-7 cm unstitched before reaching the zipper opening, this way the facing with invisible zipper can be finished the same way as for the #106 dress. Trim and grade the SAs (the facing SAs are narrower), clip along the curved edges:
8 – Assentar os valores de costura a ferro na direcção das vistas e alinhavá-los nessa direcção; coser rente à costura, no lado das vistas, prendendo os valores de costura; no caso do decote, terminar um pouco antes do fim da costura que foi deixada aberta junto ao fecho.
8 – Press SAs towards the facing and baste them in place; understitch the facings (stitch the facings very close to the seam, catching the SAs on the wrong side). Stop understitching before reaching the open seam on the back.

9 – No decote, aparar as costuras nas vistas e cortar pequenos “v”s na zona da dobra onde se cruzam as costuras; virar as vistas para dentro, alinhavar as orlas com linha de seda e passar as orlas a ferro do lado do avesso. Não passar as orlas deixadas em aberto junto ao fecho.

9 – Reduce bulk by trimming the facing SAs and notching at the fold where two seams cross; turn the facings to the wrong side of the dress, hand baste the edges using silk thread and press on the wrong side. Don’t press the opened seams close to the zipper.

10 – Coser as costuras do lado do vestido e das vistas de uma só vez (já sabem, passar a ferro dos dois lados da costura, abrir os valores de costura a ferro e finalizá-los com a corta-e-cose); mais uma vez, aparar os valores de costura das vistas e cortar pequenos “v”s nas dobras onde se juntam as costuras; virar as vistas das cavas para dentro, alinhavar com linha de seda e passar a ferro do lado do avesso.
10 – Sew the side seams on the dress and armhole facings on one single step (you know the drill: press both sides, press open and finish with the serger); once more, trim, grade and notch the facings; turn the armhole facings inside, hand baste using silk thread and press on the wrong side.

11 – Coser as vistas APENAS aos valores de costura do vestido (ombros e costuras dos lados) com pequenos pontos à mão para segurar as vistas no sítio:
11 – I hand stitch the facings to the dress on the dress SAs ONLY (shoulders and armholes), to keep the facings in place.

Em seguida tenho que fazer o acabamento da vista no fecho atrás (ver aqui como fiz no vestido #106), costurar o forro, pregá-lo à mão nas vistas e ao fecho, fazer a bainha do vestido e a bainha do forro e o vestido fica pronto.
Next I will finish the facing with the invisible zipper (see here how I did this for the #106 dress), sew the lining, hand stitch it to the facings and zipper tape, hem the dress and the lining and the dress is done.

Traçado de moldes intercalados da Patrones – Tracing “in between” Patrones patterns

Este procedimento é muito fácil para quem já tiver conhecimentos básicos de traçado de moldes e estiver habituada aos moldes escalados com diversos tamanhos sucessivos, como é o caso dos moldes da revista Burda e da Patrones. No caso específico da Patrones, os moldes são escalados (proporcionados para vários tamanhos) saltando sempre os tamanhos intermédios, enquanto na Burda os moldes são escalados nos diversos tamanhos sucessivos.
This is a very easy procedure to those of you used to dealing with multisized patterns, like those from BWOF and Patrones. All it takes is basic pattern drafting skills and some tracing material. Unlike BWOF patterns, Patrones are scaled skipping the middle sizes (BWOF's are scaled on consecutive sizes).

Outro pormenor muito importante é que os tamanhos da Patrones não coincidem com os da Burda; na Burda eu sou um 38 e na Patrones sou um 42.
Another important detail is that Patrones sizing system is not the same as BWOF's; I'm a 38 in BWOF's sizing system and a 42 in Patrones'.

Depois de alguns testes (que implicaram medir os moldes e confeccionar peças de teste - "musselinas"), cheguei à conclusão que o tamanho da Patrones que me assenta bem é o 42 (pelo menos para camisas e blusas; ainda não tentei fazer calças nem casacos). O ponto central do busto (para onde devem apontar as pinças do busto) está exactamente no sítio correcto, a folga do molde é a ideal para a peça assentar bem proporcionando liberdade de movimentos e as proporções do molde são ideais para a minha figura.
After running some basic tests (I measured the pattern pieces comparing them to my own body measurements and I did a test garment), I can tell you for sure that my Patrones size is the 42 (I can say this also based on previously made dresses and blouses; I didn't try Patrones patterns out for trousers or coats yet). The bust point is well placed, the wearing ease is just right for me and the pattern is well proportioned for my body type.

Vou então traçar o tamanho 42, tendo disponível o molde escalado para os tamanhos 40-44-48. Para já começo por traçar os moldes no tamanho 40 e 44 tal e qual aparecem na folha de moldes (neste caso estão a ver o molde da frente):

Based on all this I will trace a 42, having available the 40-44-48 scaled patterns. First I trace off the 40 and 44 sizes, exactly as they are placed in the pattern sheet (following pictures stand for the front pattern):

Depois de identificar as linhas que são comuns a todos os tamanhos (neste caso o centro da frente e a linha da bainha da saia), uno com um segmento de recta todos os vértices escalados, e divido a distância ao meio (ver pontos no meio dos segmentos de recta).

After identifying the lines that match for all sizes (CF and hem line for the pattern piece in question), I trace a straight line joining each corner on the scaled 40-44 pattern and divide it by half (see the little dots in the following pictures).

Basta agora traçar as linhas entre as linhas dos dois tamanhos (a vermelho), intersectando a mediatriz dos segmentos de recta, como ilustram as fotos seguintes:

Next I trace a new set of pattern lines (in red) in between the 40-44 outlines, crossing at the little dots, as shown next:

Aqui podem ver as pinças das costas (a vermelho está o tamanho 42 traçado a partir do tamanho 40 e 44):
These are the back vertical darts (the 42 size is traced in red), traced using both 40 and 44 darts as a guide:

Não se esqueçam de verificar se o evasé da saia coincide no molde da frente e das costas (ao traçar o molde tive que prolongar as linhas do molde pois a peça inteira não cabia na folha de moldes); se isto não acontecer, as costuras dos lados ficarão tortas. Tive de fazer um pequeno ajuste numa das costuras, como podem ver:
Don't forget to check the side seams on both front & back patterns (the pattern was too big for the pattern sheet and these lines were traced just prolonging the side seams with the help of a ruler); the slope should be the same or else the side seams won't be straight to the floor. I had to adjust one of the side seams, as you can see in the next picture:

A foto não diz muito, mas é um vestido simples sem mangas de linha evasé. Podem ver a frente no esquemático, a cintura atrás é delineada com pinças verticais na cintura e leva um fecho invisível no meio das costas.
The picture doesn't say much but this is a very nice sleeveless A-line dress. You can observe the linedrawing: the waist is shaped with vertical darts on the back and there's also an invisible zipper on the CB.

This dress is very easy to make and most of what I wrote about this other dress can be used as a guide for the making of the Paul Smith dress; the only differences are the tracing of the pattern and the facings.
