Com a apresentação do casaco de pelo negro no post anterior, não poderia deixar de lembrar-me de uma peça que fiz nos finais dos anos 90, uma época que foi bastante produtiva para mim em termos de costura. Antes de mais a revista que guardo desde então:

Apesar da capa e o caderno de instruções estarem escritos em Português, a edição é Espanhola, como podem ver pelas páginas da cidade às quais foi dedicada esta edição (querida Isabelle, tenho a certeza que já sentes saudades de Paris e esta foto é dedicada a ti!):

O modelo de casaco de pelo que fiz na altura foi este:

Usei este casaco até à exaustão! Chamava-lhe (e ainda lhe chamo) de “casaco-Lobo”, por causa do pelo que usei se assemelhar à pelagem de alguns lobos. Entretanto acabei por oferece-lo à minha irmã, que ainda o usa. Surpresa das surpresas, há dias ela trouxe-mo para arranjar e achei que o podia mostrar aqui, para verem que há uns anos eu já fazia umas coisas giras! Aqui está:

When I presented the black fur coat on my previous post I couldn’t help remembering of the first fur coat that I sewed back in the end of the 90’s; those times were quite productive for me sewing wise! I will start by introducing the magazine in which the model is featured:

Although the cover and the instructions are written in Portuguese, this edition is actually the Spanish BWOF, as you can see by the pages showing the featured city (dear Isabelle, I know you already miss Paris, so this is dedicated to you!):

The original model that I sewed back in 97-98 is this one:

This coat was worn until exhaustion! It was my favorite coat for many years and I called it my “Wolf coat” because the fur I used resembles the fur of certain wolves. A few years ago I offered the coat to my younger sister who still wears it and surprise, the other day she brought it to me so I could fix one of the button loops that was ripped. This is a good chance to show you some of my past sewing projects so here's the Wolf coat:

A minha colecção de revistas: Burda Junho de 1998 – My magazine collection: June 1998 BWOF

Aqui temos uma das raras edições em Português da Burda! Esta revista de há dez anos atrás tem alguns artigos e modelos interessantes. Nesta altura também já era publicado o capítulo em honra a uma cidade, desta vez Capri:

Mas houve duas coisas que me chamaram mais a atenção nesta revista, nomeadamente as secções dedicadas a tipos específicos de tecidos; além de um artigo dedicado aos tecidos transparentes e finos, temos o jersey e alguns modelos interessantes que podem ser uma alternativa aos vestidos (o último conjunto calça e top ficava mesmo bem com um jersey verde tília brilhante que tenho guardado):


Outra coisa que me chamou a atenção foi este vestido (cujo molde não é fornecido):

No entanto, nesta mesma revista temos um vestido com linhas semelhantes, cujo molde é dado:

Com algumas modificações creio que este molde poderia servir para fazer o vestido anterior, e até já tenho um tecido (linho preto risca-de-giz) para este vestido, se o decidir fazer (onde é que vou arranjar tempo para tudo?? *suspiro*):

Entretanto os trabalhos na jaqueta desenhada pelo Paco prosseguem mais lentamente pois é um projecto que necessita de cuidado extra ao alinhar os padrões do tecido e a aplicar o forro de empastar.

Este mês é também o mês de fazer o modelo de prova para o meu casaco para o “The Great Coat Sew-Along”. Em breve espero ter este passo pronto e publicar a minha prova. Até lá, fiquem bem!

Today I have one of the rare Portuguese editions of BWOF to show you! This magazine came out ten years ago but features some interesting articles and models. The article addressing a city of the world was also being featured back in 98, this time the city was Capri:

But there were two more things that caught my attention in this magazine, namely the sections dedicated to specific kinds of fabric. There is an article dedicated to very thin fabrics (voiles) and also a section dedicated to jersey that includes some very interesting models that could play as an alternative to dresses (the last black ensemble would look very nice made of a teal green clingy knit that I have in my stash)


The other thing that caught my attention was this dress (the pattern is not included in the magazine):

While browsing through the technical drawings I came across this dress with very similar style lines (I could never have guessed this from the model's picture):

I believe this pattern could be used to mimic the pinstriped dress with slight alterations and guess what, I already have the fabric (pinstriped black linen) in my stash, if I decide to make this dress (how will I find the time to make all this? *sigh*…):

In the meanwhile, progress is slow on Paco’s designed jacket. Extra care to align the swirl motifs and the fact that the jacket is underlined make this project a little more time consuming.

This month is also the month when we’re supposed to make the test garment for the Great Coat Sew-Along. I hope to construct the test garment soon so stay tuned. See you next time!

A minha colecção de revistas: Burda 06/2000 – My magazine collection: BWOF 06/2000

Para variar um pouco, vou iniciar uma rubrica nova (etiqueta: “revistas antigas”) na qual tenciono mostrar algumas revistas antigas favoritas da minha colecção. Em alguns casos contêm roupas que eu costurei nesse tempo e sempre que possível vou mostra-las também (a maior parte já não as tenho comigo). Hoje tenho a Burda de Junho de 2000, da qual escolhi alguns modelos de que gosto.

Esta edição tem uma colecção em branco que me agrada bastante e que considero ser ainda actual, para um “look” muito casual e para usar na praia:


Nesta altura a em todas as edições havia uma rubrica dedicada a uma cidade, e desta vez foi Tel Aviv:

E por acaso tenho um tecido que talvez resultasse bem neste vestido (embora o tenha comprado para este outro modelo; ainda não me decidi realmente e talvez faça uma mistura dos dois, ehehe):

Outra rubrica interessante nas revistas Burda desta altura é que traziam sempre um modelo desenhado por uma leitora, neste caso um vestido em crepe de jersey:

Espero que gostem deste “reviver” das minhas velhas revistas! Vou tentar escrever sobre este assunto pelo menos duas vezes por mês!

Just to give you a break from showing my sewing projects I will start a new series of posts under the label “old magazines”. I have a good collection of old Burdas (since the nineties), and other magazines and I plan to show you a selection of my favorite models including some that I’ve made back then (whenever possible I will show you my garments too; but I don’t have most of them with me anymore). Today I will show you the June 2000 edition of BWOF (French edition).

This edition features a white collection that I’m most fond of, for a very casual look and wearing at the beach:


During this time every BWOF included an article on a city, accompanied by sewing models that would translate the city’s typical fashion environment. In this issue Tel Aviv was featured:

And by chance I have a fabric that I believe would work for this pattern (though I have bought it for making this other model; I still haven’t made up my mind and maybe I’ll just morph the two, lol):

Another interesting and now extinct article was the reader’s designed model, in this case a gorgeous jersey dress:
