Interessei-me pelo Cozy quando li este artigo do blog “The Princess Seam”; desde então resolvi fazer algo de semelhante. Pouco tempo depois a Sigrid fez uma versão adaptando um molde de um top de malha (podem ver como ela modificou o molde e o resultado final aqui). Entretanto vi um molde Simplicity que imita exactamente este estilo e resolvi encomendá-lo do website internacional da Simplicity, que serve a Europa: o molde é o Simplicity 2603:
Descrição: Top e casaco de amarrar de malha. O casaco de malha tem uma versão mais curta e opção de punhos em forma de sino.
Fiz a opção A no tamanho M. O molde da frente (molde#1) é um pouco diferente do que a Sigrid desenhou, mas o efeito é semelhante:
Modificações/Detalhes:
Um pormenor deste modelo é que gola atrás leva um elástico no centro para franzir:
Achei que ficaria melhor se a gola dobrasse para dentro e fosse cosida ao decote, e foi isso que fiz:
Outra coisa que fiz diferente foi deixar as orlas da frente e bainha sem rematar, porque este tecido não ganha malhas:
É importante referir que as orlas só ficam direitinhas se forem cortadas com uma lâmina rotativa “rotary cutter” sobre uma superfície própria.
Todo o resto foi feito de acordo com as instruções. As costuras dos ombros levam uma fita de reforço para não esticarem:

Conclusão: Uma peça versátil e interessante, muito fácil de fazer. Leva bastante tecido (2,5m) mas o efeito final vale a pena! Espero que tenham gostado!
Q/R: A Byrdie perguntou de que tipo é o meu manequim e se estou satisfeita com ele; comprei-o há uns anos através do catálogo da La Redoute (penso que já não se vendem lá). É ajustável na largura (peito, cintura e ancas) e pode-se espetar alfinetes e passar a ferro por cima, o que é o essencial. No entanto não é ajustável na altura do tronco e em relação às minhas medidas é um pouco mais curto. Este manequim não é profissional (esses são mais caros e não sei onde se arranjam cá); em geral estou satisfeita com ele mas, quando puder, gostaria de adquirir um manequim profissional construído com as minhas medidas.

I was first interested in the Cozy when I read this article at The Princess Seam blog; since then I knew I had to make a Cozy too! Sometime later Sigrid did a wonderful job modifying a basic knit top pattern into the Cozy pattern (you can read about the process and see a lot of fabulous pictures of the finished Cozy here). I was just “cooking” the idea of making one when I saw the new Simplicity patterns: the S2603 mimics this same style! That’s when I decided to order this pattern from the Simplicity’s international website and a few days later I had it in my mail box!
Description: Misses’ knit top and cardi-wrap with front variations (there’s a shorter version and optional bell cuffs).
I made view A (size M). The front pattern (#1) is a little different from the pattern that Sigrid traced, but I believe it creates a similar effect:
Alterations/Details:
A distinctive detail of this pattern is the elastic at the CB collar seam:
I thought the collar would look better if I turned it in and tacked the outer edge to the back neckline seam, as shown in the next picture, avoiding the exposure of the wrong side of the CB elasticized seam:
Another thing I decided to do differently was the finishing of the outer front and hem edges; since this knit doesn’t run, I left the raw edges unfinished:
It’s important to note that the edges are perfectly straight because I used a rotary cutter. Scissors don’t work well on this fabric.
For the remaining construction process I performed as stated in the pattern directions. The shoulder seams were reinforced to prevent stretching:

Conclusion: It’s a versatile and interesting garment, and as a bonus it’s quite easy to sew. It’s what we usually call a “fabric hog” (it takes almost 3 yards of knit fabric!) but I think the result is well worth it!
Q/As: Byrdie asked about my dressform: I bought it from a mail catalogue (La Redoute) a few years ago (I don’t think they sell dressforms anymore). The horizontal measurements are adjustable (chest waist and hips) but not the torso height (my torso is almost an inch longer). I can pin on it and also iron the clothes directly on the dressform, which is essential in some cases. This dressform is not a professional dressform though; when I can I’d like to purchase a professional made to my measure dressform.
