Fiquem bem!
My inspiration (the color palette in this case) came from the Gucci Spring2008 RTW collection, which is based on the colors white, black and yellow. The original model can be seen here (Burdamode website).
As you may have noticed, my dress is a little different. I made some alterations due to fabric shortage. When I saw this fabric I thought 2m would be enough for the dress; when I got home and consulted the magazine, I saw that 3,5m were required for this model! The next day I ran into the fabric shop only to find out that this fabric (a very soft and smooth jersey that drapes beautifully) was sold out (no wonder…)! So I had to improvise; I was able to eliminate the crossed over fronts of the skirt by cutting a single front on the fold, using the pattern’s center front line, so I could spare one skirt length (the two fronts occupy the fabric’s width each). The contrasts and waistband were to be cut on black jersey so that saved me some more fabric. The 2m were barely enough but I made it!
ETA: There's also a back seam on the bodice because there wasn't enough fabric lenght to cut it on the fold, but it's barely noticeable.
Another thing I did differently is the waistband, that doesn’t break at the center front to cross over and take the ties (as seen in this model, which uses the same pattern). Instead I cut four waistband pieces: an outer front, an outer back, an inner front and an inner back, all with side seams. For the ties I used half the pattern (lengthwise) to make them narrower, cut them on the printed jersey and attached them to the side seams instead:
The ties can cross on the back and tie on the front:
Or simply tied on the back:
Here’s the inner waistband:
And the sleeve cuffs on the inside:
I used the coverstitch to hem the dress:
Conclusion: I believe this dress turned out quite well, it has a wonderful drape and it feels so soft against the skin. The colors are very trendy right now. I think it’s a fairly easy dress to make and also very simple but it can be enhanced by a nice fabric
These sandals were bought with this dress in mind:
And I finish my presentation by showing some Gucci models for your viewing pleasure (all pictures from www.style.com):
Next I will show you something I sewed for a future Mom! It’s not apparel related, instead is more baby room decoration-related! See you all soon!

What a gorgeous dress!
Another beauty! And I love those shoes!
Tany, this is so stunning. I like all your changes and the fabric is gorgeous. Perfectly understandable why it was gone when you went back.
Gorgeous dress, Tany. I think with your design changes your dress is nicer than the original. Love the fabric!
Your dress is absolutely gorgeous - and the shoes too! I agree that the changes you made are brilliant and I think I'll do the same when I make this dress - which now I know I must!
I think the single front will be more wearable and you saved fabric! Really lovely outfit.
absolutely gorgeous! I like what you did with the waistband--it divides the dress into two sections (top and bottom), but with the patterned straps, it doesn't make the pattern look to "block-like". It's a more subtle separation.
Tany, this is a great dress! I'm so glad you were able to make it work with less fabric. And the shoes are perfect :)
Beautiful dress and fabric, Tany! I really like how you improvised to make it work with your 2m of fabric!
Beautiful combination of dress and shoes. And very clever to be able to make a dress like this with 1,5 meter less fabric than indicated!
Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow (yeah, I know 3 wows too many - but still!) - love the fabric! and what you made with almost only half the required fabric needed.
Tany, precioso. Paco
Well done! It's a beautiful dress, and it looks great with the shoes.
Wow this is great dress!Sandals are wonderfull I like that type of sandals!
Your creativity shows how you can make a dress pattern with less fabric. Your new outfit looks elegant.
Beijinhos
You've done some very smart changes to come up with a very chic dress with less fabric than required. I like what you've done with the ties at the waist.
The shoes are perfect! I love wedge style shoes.
Tany,

I like your version of the dress better! What a great save and congratulations on being able to keep your vision and create the dress without enough fabric.
I know what you mean about this color combination. I love it, I hope it loves me. I just bought 2 yards of some yellow/black/white fabric myself. I bought it to make a top. I am going to have to make it soon so that I can wear it this summer.
Gorgeous - great fabric - perfect dress for it... great job!
Beautiful dress! This style caught my eye when I received the magazine, I'm so glad you made it! Now I'm off looking for similar fabric...
Hi Tany! Great style and wonderful choice of colors, which seem to work perfectly with you black hair. And....the shoes are perfect with it. And as always: awesome craftsmanship! (Is this the right word - there's no dictionary nearby ;) )
greetings from switzerland!

Fabulous, your changes to the dress are ingenius. Just this morning I was looking at this fabric in an online shop. Now I'll have to go back there and check it out again.
Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous! I'd been eyeing that same dress and wondering if eliminating the wrap was feasible...thanks so much for demonstrating that it works!
Parabens!tens muito talento
Wow, I love your dress! I just love the big print, and yellow is one of my favorite colors.
Lovely dress and like the modifications.
Adorei simplesmente estes ultimos trabalhos tal e qual como é teu hábito: PERFEITO!
Um beijo
Adorei!

Beijinhos!
That is the perfect fabric for that dress! And I loved that you made it work with the yardage that you had!
Bravo for making that dress work so beautifully - I've occasionally come home with not enough fabric and it doesn't always work out so well. I absolutely love those shoes with your dress, they're perfect!
A perfect marriage of style and fabric! It's fabulous Tany.
Love what you did with this pattern! Gorgeous dress
I love the bold print and colors with this pattern. Very stylish, as always. And a nice change of pace, to see you in something less tailored, more drapey. Oh, and *perfect* shoes!
So stylish!! You look amazing, my dear friend. This is a stunning dress.
Sending you hugs and smiles and lots of love.
I am a little late to the cheering squad but you did a fabulous job on this dress. I love the colors and the modification for the side ties.
I just love reading your blog!!! So much inspiration
Thank you Peacockchic!
