EN: Once again my inspiration was drawn by a COS garment; I loved it when I saw it on their website and considered buying it, but not without checking if I could find a similar yarn to knock it off first.

PT: Mais uma vez a inspiração veio de uma peça da COS; adorei este colete quando o vi no website deles e considerei encomendá-lo, mas antes quis pesquisar se conseguia encontrar uma lã que me permitisse tricotá-lo eu mesma.

EN: I found this fluffy yarn on a Portuguese online knitting store, "O Gato Mimo" (it's refreshing to see our online market grow, after spending years ordering abroad what I couldn't find in local stores): it's called Pingo Fluffy and the color  "Limonade" was sold out shortly after my purchase. I am happy with this yarn because it doesn't shed into my other clothes. I love the idea of natural fibers and Mohair in particular but one of its drawbacks is the constant shedding, specially visible when worn with other dark garments. The Pingo Fluffy yarn (15% polyamide, 85% acrylic) has the fuzzy texture yet it does not shed.

PT: Encontrei esta lã felpuda numa loja de tricô online Portuguesa: "O Gato Mimo" (depois de anos a comprar do estrangeiro é refrescante assistir a uma expansão do mercado online em Portugal). A lã chama-se Pingo Fluffy da Pingouin, e comprei na cor "Limonade", esgotada pouco depois. Fiquei satisfeita com esta fibra pois embora goste muito de fibras naturais e Mohair em particular, o Mohair tem uma tendência de largar pelo por todo o lado, um inconveniente especialmente constrangedor quando usado com tons escuros. O fio Pingo Fluffy (15% poliamida, 85% acrílico), tem a textura felpuda mas a vantagem de não largar pelo.

EN: This yarn provides a larger gauge than regular yarn for the same needle size, so I didn't use the same directions of my previous cobalt blue vest; I also decided to knit 2-2 ribbing instead of 1-1, to make the final product more similar to the COS vest. For the ribbing, all you need to assert is a number of cast-on stitches divisible by 4. The yarn label indicates using US8 needles but I wanted my vest to be extra thick and fluffy so I used US6 instead, along with US4 for the neckline and armhole ribbing (the bottom ribbing was knitted with US6 needles).

I started by casting-on 156 stitches (using US6 circular needles) and work 4" on the round in 2-2 ribbing; then I continued on the round until reaching the desired measurement of the armhole base and start shaping the front armholes and front neckline (there were 11 stiches left on each shoulder when I was done with the front). I knitted the back the same way adding a slight neckline shaping and ending up with the same 11 stitches on each shoulder. The shoulders were then weaved together with a tapestry needle. Next, using US4 needles I picked up the stitches around the neckline and armholes, taking care that the final number of stitches was divisible by 4.

PT: Esta lã rende mais do que uma lã normal para o mesmo tamanho de agulha, como tal se usasse as mesmas instruções do colete azul, o colete ia ficar muito grande. Desta vez também decidi usar revesilho 2-2 em vez de 1-1 para o resultado ficar mais parecido com o colete da COS. Para conseguir isto é só preciso garantir que se trabalha num número de malhas divisível por 4. Na etiqueta do fio lê-se que o tamanho de agulha recomendado é de 5mm mas queria uma malha bem densa e fofa, por isso tricotei com agulhas de 4mm e 3,5mm nos revesilhos das cavas e decote (o cós foi tricotado com as agulhas de 4mm).

Comecei por enfiar 156 malhas nas agulhas circulares de 4mm e trabalhei 10cm em redondo no revesilho 2-2; depois continuem a tricotar até atingir a medida que pretendia na base da cava e comecei a dar forma à parte da frente, começando pelas cavas e depois o decote quando atingi a altura pretendida. Terminei casa alça com 11 malhas, deixando-as em agulhas auxiliares. Continuei com as costas, dando forma às cavas da mesma forma; frente e costas têm o mesmo cumprimento mas o decote atrás é bastante mais alto do que na frente, terminando mais uma vez com 11 malhas de cada lado, que depois foram unidas às malhas da frente nos ombros usando uma agulha de tapeçaria (o resultado é não haver costuras visíveis na união). Por fim levantam-se as malhas no decote e cavas (nº divisível por 4) com agulhas circulares de 3,5mm e tricota-se um revesilho 2-2 na largura que se deseja.
