EN: The pattern can be described as: loose-fitting unstructured overcoat with two length options has front closure with three large buttons, notched collar, broad welt side pockets (see my tutorial here), back vent and cuffed sleeves; it is partially lined and version a (shorter) has an integrated vest with metal zipper closure (read my article on the making of the vest here) while version b (longer) has hem facings instead of regular turned-up hems and no vest.
The pattern comes in a box containing two folded continuous roll white paper pattern sheets (similar to regular printer paper) with the pattern printed in multi-size format (DP Studio's sizes 36 to 48!). The pattern pieces do not overlap each other like with BurdaStyle magazines or similar, so the pattern can be cut to the appropriate size or copied to tracing paper if preserving the original is intended. The box also contains illustrated instructions in both English and French (the same you can download from DP Studio's website), a DP Studio's visit card and a DP Studio's postcard. The styling and presentation of the box is very good, in my opinion. Some people complain about the instructions being difficult to decipher, though. The fact is they come in a format very close to what's used in the industry, which is not the standard with most pattern companies selling patterns for home use. Anyway, I believe any intermediate to advanced dressmaker or hobbyist should be capable of interpret the instructions/pattern of the most advanced DP Studio's patterns (it's not rocket science after all; a coat is still a coat). If you don't consider yourself in that range and still want to try this pattern brand, you can start with their beginner's line patterns DP's (click here) which are also available in pdf format at a good price.
I found a few minor issues (at least to me they were minor) with the pattern (already reported them back to DP Studio and they are checking the pattern) bu my copy was purchased right after collection #3 has been released so some if not all of these issues may already be corrected. I strongly advise checking all pattern pieces and the written instructions with a keen eye and if possible make a test garment first, just in case. The issues I have found (I've only checked version a!) are the following:

1 - Back neck facing says cut 2x fabric (on fold) and 1x interfacing (on fold); this only accounts for the vest and there should be a third neckline back facing (interfaced) for the coat itself, joining with the front facings.
2 - The back piece has two different hem cutting lines for version a and b; the cut line should be the same, only version b will take a hem facing (so SAs are 3/8") and version a has a wide hem allowance for turning up (around 4 or 5 inches; it' corresponds to the total width of the hem facing on version b). I ended up using a hem facing on the back alone, and using the instructions for constructing the back vent for version b instead of version a.
3 - the sleeve piece is the same for coat and lining; in my opinion the lining sleeve should be longer, to accommodate any arm movement without pulling the sleeve of the coat.

Also remember that with these patterns all seam allowances are 3/4" (included in the pattern) unless otherwise stated.

EN: A closer look at the front and back with the visible top-stitching along the facing&vest:
---

EN: The top-stitching was made after basting the vest to the coat front and back facing edges and stitching the partial lining to the facings&vest; the facings&vest were first hand-basted to the coat in the correct position, making sure there aren't drag lines or shifting on the right side; then I stitched from the wrong side exactly on top of the lining/facing joining seam, catching the coat underneath. The top-stitching should start and end at the vest hems underneath the lining. One of the advantages of stitching with an industrial sewing machine is that a well balanced stitch is equally perfect on both sides of the seam.
---
EN: Here's the front closure with bound buttonholes:

EN: The little anchor buttons on the wrong side:

PT: Os pequenos botões "escora":
EN: Here's the cuff on the sleeves; I constructed the cuffs differently from the instructions; instead of stitching the outer cuff to the sleeve first and then apply the sleeve facing, I sewed the cuffs first as a unit (joining cuff and cuff facing first); I think it's easier to under-stitch the cuff's edge in advance this way:
---
EN: Here's the cuff unit with the under-stitched edge:
---
EN: Note that the outer cuff is interfaced and the inner cuff (facing) is edge bound with pre-folded bias tape:
---
EN: The outer cuff was stitched to the sleeve and lining at the same time, seam allowances pressed to the cuff direction; then the joining seam was top-stitched in the ditch from the right side, catching the cuff facing underneath (all should be hand-basted first for optimal results).
---
EN: Here's the back vent from the right side; according to the instruction the vent should close to the other side (my mistake: when trimming away the excess on one of the hem facings, I cut the wrong one so I had to make the vent to the opposite side; it is not incorrect though, it can close to either side on women's coats).
---
EN: Here it is from the wrong side, with a very neat finish using pre-folded bias tape (the only place where I used the hong-kong finish technique was on the hem edge):
---
EN: The partial lining is longer on the front, covering the vest edges and most part of the pockets on the wrong side:
---

EN: The lining was tacked to all vertical seams with thread-bridges so it has some movement without shifting out of place; it was also tacked under the armholes.
---

EN: All visible seam allowances were bias-bound for a perfectly neat finish on the inside; this is a lot of extra work but also adds value to the final garment; if you are not up to it you can always draft a full lining and hide all the inner construction details.
---
EN: This coat was labor and time consuming but the final result is worth it, in my opinion. I love making coats the most and this one turned out really well for me. Days are getting colder now so I know it will get plenty of wear. However I feel exhausted after finishing this coat and I need a well deserved rest, so I will be slowing down my blogging activity and social media in general (I will try to post photos of me wearing the DP Studio coat on Tany et La Mode first),... I don't know for how long (as long as I feel I need it). I'll still be here, just in hibernation mode like bears in winter :). Thank you all for visiting and I hope you have enjoyed following along this project!

(NOTE: Some photos have been lightened to show the details better; the fabric is black wool velvet, very dark and hard to photograph).
