Light grey tulip skirt (DP Studio Le412a, "Jupe Emma" with front inset) and more rant about the "content scrapers" vermin

EN Summary: There was enough fabric left from the light-grey ensemble to make a skirt. I picked up another DP Studio pattern, one that came in one of the SoChicBoxes that I had purchased in the past. I will also share my findings on the subject of blog content theft. Keep reading the full article.

PT Sumário: Sobrou tecido suficiente do conjunto cinza-claro para fazer uma saia. Escolhi outro molde DP Studio, que veio incluído num dos kits SoChicBox que tinha comprado há tempos. Também vou falar um pouco sobre o roubo de conteúdos dos blogs. Continuem a ler o artigo completo.

EN: I made the Emma skirt SoChicBox kit (version b) back in June 2019 (check out the sewing review here), but sadly it fits a little too big on me now (I did order the same kit again, since the fabric included is well worth the discounted price of the kit; if I don't feel like adjusting the skirt, I may just sew another one). The light grey fabric leftover was barely enough to cut this skirt in size 40. This time I decided to try version a, which has a center front seam and a front inset instead of the front cut on the fold.

PT: Fiz o kit SoChicBox Emma (versão b) em Junho de 2019 (podem ler o artigo detalhado sobre a confeção aqui), mas infelizmente a saia agora fica-me larga, pois emagreci (acabei por encomendar o mesmo kit uma segunda vez, pois o tecido vale bem o que custa o kit, agora em promoção - se não me apetecer adaptar a saia antiga, farei outra igual ;) ). O sobrante de tecido cinza chegou mesmo à certa para cortar o tamanho 40, e desta vez decidi provar a versão a, que tem uma costura e um encaixe na frente em vez de ter a frente cortada na dobra do tecido.

EN: Since this was my second version, it felt a lot easier to sew, but make no mistake: this skirt is not a quick project and it takes some degree of expertise to sew it right. On my first version I bagged the skirt's lining entirely which worked, yet it was not easy to accommodate the straight lining front to a curved front hem facing. The skirt hem was also top-stitched to secure everything in place.

PT: À segunda vez a saia pareceu-me mais fácil de confecionar, mas não se enganem: esta saia tem detalhes que necessitam de muita atenção e experiência para ficar perfeita no final. Na primeira saia que fiz deste modelo, o forro foi aplicado à maneira industrial, tendo sido cosido todo à máquina às bainhas, racha e fecho invisível por dentro. Coser o forro direito na frente a uma vista da bainha curva não foi fácil. Acabei por também por pespontar à máquina toda a bainha.

EN: On this 2nd version I decided to sew the lining to the skirt as explained in the instructions, which consists in sewing the lining by machine to the back hem and slit, and let it hang free on the front, just finished with a narrow hem. Instead of top-stitching the hem I tacked it by hand along the front hem facing and back hem. I rather like it more like this: the skirt hangs better on the front.

PT: Com esta 2ª versão decidi aplicar o forro com o processo descrito nas instruções, ou seja, cosido à máquina à bainha e racha apenas atrás, enquanto na frente o forro fica solto, apenas acabado com uma bainha estreita. Também não achei necessário pespontar a bainha; cosi-a à mão no lugar. O resultado foi muito bom, tendo esta nova saia um caimento melhor na frente.

EN: Regarding my blog content theft, I'd like to thank you all the information and suggestions shared. I confess that I felt "violated" when I first found out about it, but after reading your feedback and cooling down my head I am feeling much better. The platform using my content is a well known "content scrapper" called RSSing.com. At first I thought it was just a feed reader, but after digging out some more I am now convinced that they specialize in the business of taking advantage of other blogger's content without their permission. Since it is a well established platform, I believe that others may already have tried to shut them down without success. There are some ways to embed mechanisms within the blog's feed to prevent the content from being copied, but there are also ways around that defense. Besides I am using blogger to host my blog, which makes the defense even more difficult (there's no .htaccess control file, as far as I know). One thing I can do is to embed links back to my blog within the published text but some content scrappers also have a way around it, running scripts that eliminate those links. I can add a watermark to my photos (I won't go back and do it for the photos already published, it's too much work, but if I can figure out an automatic way to do it in future posts I will) and at least my website will be identified in the photos. Other than that I can also complain to RSSing.com and ask them to remove my content; somehow I don't think it would be that simple though. I've read about this subject in these articles (here and here), if you're interested in knowing more.

PT: Relativamente ao roubo dos meus conteúdos, gostava de vos agradecer a informação e sugestões que partilharam. Confesso que quando soube desta situação me senti como que "violada", mas depois de ter lido o vosso feedback e ter pensado bem no assunto, lá acalmei. A plataforma que descobri estar a usar o meu conteúdo é a RSSing.com, que à primeira vista me pareceu um "feed reader" mas que depois de alguma investigação se revelou de facto numa plataforma especializada em usar o conteúdo de outros sites para proveito próprio, beneficiando do tráfego gerado por conteúdo produzido por outros através de anúncios embebidos nas páginas deles que mostram o conteúdo. Uma vez que são já bem "conhecidos" nesse ramo, imagino que outros bem mais influentes do que eu, que tenho um blogue "pequenino" e amador, tenham tentado terminar com o negócio deles. Há algumas formas de prevenir que as feeds sejam copiadas por este tipo de "scrappers", como embeber scripts especiais no código do blogue, mas no caso da plataforma que uso, o "Blogger" creio que tal não é possível porque não tenho acesso ao ficheiro de controlo .htaccess, tanto quanto sei). Há coisas que estão ao meu alcance, como incluir nos meus textos bastantes referências (links) para o meu próprio blogue, mas alguns destes "especialistas" têm scripts especiais para retirar essas referências antes de exibirem os conteúdos nas suas plataformas. Posso acrescentar uma "marca de água" às minhas fotos, mas fazê-lo em todas as fotos já publicadas seria impraticável. Também posso tentar contactar com eles e pedir-lhes que deixem de usar os meus conteúdos, mas não sei se me quero por nessa situação ou comprar essa guerra.
