2011#2: A coat made in an afternoon – Um casaco feito numa tarde

É difícil encontrar um casaco mais fácil de fazer do que este; o modelo é da BurdaStyle Janeiro 2011, modelo 126:

Descrição: Casaco com gola-écharpe, pode ser confeccionado em tecidos de malha ou lã cardada (neste último caso dispensa acabamento nas beiras e bainhas).

Tecido usado: Malha bouclé de cor verde musgo; na figura podem ver o direito e o avesso deste tecido (o lado direito é mais o claro):

Confecção: Em relação às instruções, a única diferença é que apliquei fita de entretela de reforço não nos ombros da frente, mas nos ombros e decote das costas e nas cavas (frente e costas). A próxima foto mostra a frente reforçada e com a pinça marcada com alinhavos:

E os reforços nas costas:

Para as beiras do decote-écharpe e bainhas das mangas simplesmente virei as margens para o avesso e cosi com ponto especial para malhas (ziguezague estreito e longo), aparando depois o sobrante das margens rente aos pontos no avesso:

As bainhas foram rematadas com a corta-e-cose antes de virar:

A corta-e-cose, não sendo uma máquina essencial para quem costura, facilita o acabamento das peças, conferindo-lhes um aspecto mais profissional:

Conclusão: Fiquei satisfeita e recomendo este modelo, principalmente para as iniciantes, se procuram um modelo fácil e rápido de confeccionar ou para as mais experientes, se procuram um projecto que lhes traga gratificação instantânea! It’s difficult to find an easier coat to make than this; the pattern is from the January 2011 edition of BurdaStyle, model 126:

Description: coat with scarf-like collar, can be made of knit fabrics or boiled wool (in this case it doesn’t need any hem finishing).

Fabric used: Olive green knit boucle; in the next picture you can see the right side (lighter) and the wrong side of the knit:

Construction: I pretty much followed the steps in the instructions but reinforced with interfacing tape not on the front shoulders, as stated, but on the back shoulders and neckline and armholes (front and back). In the next picture there’s the front with the thread traced dart and taped armholes:

And here’s the back:

For the front edges I just turned the SAs to the wrong side and topstitched with the stretch stitch (narrow/long zigzag), trimming the excess close to the topstitching:

Serged the hem allowances, turned them in and topstitched the same way:

The serger, not being absolutely necessary to a dressmaker, makes the finishing process easier and quicker. It also provides a professional finished look on the inside:

Conclusion: I’m happy with the coat and recommend it, especially if you’re a beginner looking for an easy project or just seeking for instant gratification. I leave you with a couple more styling ideas for the coat:
