Casaco Orwell #11: Paletas, cintos e costuras da frente – Orwell Coat #11: Pocket flaps, belts and front seams

Podem ver na figura seguinte as paletas e os cintos já prontos (excepto os das mangas); a "coisa" amarela e redonda em baixo é cera de abelha, um óptimo acessório para ajudar a coser à mão; corta-se a linha, passa-se pela ranhura de plástico e depois passa-se a linha a ferro para que a cera derreta para o seu interior. As linhas tornam-se mais firmes e dificilmente se enleiam ou formam nós ao coser. Nunca encontrei este acessório à venda nas lojas locais, por isso mandei-o vir de Inglaterra (se alguém estiver interessada, posso dar o contacto do fornecedor).
In the next picture there are the finished pocket flaps and belts (except the cuff belts) and the "sewer best friend" when hand stitching: bee wax. First I pass the pre-cut thread through the bee wax and then I iron the thread so that the wax is absorbed by the thread. This way I prevent unwanted mess and knots when hand stitching.

Entretanto também terminei as costuras da frente; podem ver que junto as peças para coser com alfinetes (que vou retirando antes que cheguem à agulha) e uso as linhas de alinhavo como guia:
In the meanwhile I've finished the front seams too; as you can see, I hold the side and center front pieces together using pins (which I remove before they get near the needle) and I use the thread tracings as a guide:

Aqui têm a costura do encaixe superior (sem vivo) depois de pronta:

E aqui estou a colocar o vivo na parte direita da peça da frente:
And here I'm sewing the piping to front side seam, on the right side of the fabric:

Notem na figura que por dentro os valores de costura são "escalados" de forma a diminuir o volume da costura (o que fica por cima é cortado mais um pouquinho):

See the detail of the SAs' grading on the front's wrong side, secured with silk thread and ready to be pressed:

Depois só falta coser o painel lateral à frente, prendendo o cinto entre os dois na costura;
All it takes now is sewing the side panel to the front, encasing the side belt between the two fabric layers;

O resultado final é o seguinte (ainda falta cortar a abertura dos bolsos completamente no painel lateral):
