Paco Peralta for Vogue Designer Shirt V1526 B (2016#34) - A camisa de Paco Peralta para Vogue

EN Summary: The V1526 B is finished, and although I will wait until the complete set is made to take better photos and outfit photos, I thought I could share a few construction details and tips. Keep reading the complete article!

Continuem a ler o artigo completo!

EN: The first detail I want to talk about is the in-seam buttonhole at the neckline seam. The instructions will have you sew a “bridge” on top of the all-in one front placket (right front). When the collar is attached and top-stitched along neckline seam, the opening works as a perfect buttonhole! You may wear it unbuttoned (as seen in the pattern envelope photo) or buttoned, and in this last case the collar will become asymmetrical. A very cool designer detail IMO.
---

EN: Another very nice detail is the slanted patch pocket on the left front. This pocket has a buttonhole so a single layer facing fabric on top, as included in the pattern, may be insufficient to hold the buttonhole, depending on the fabric; doubling the facing width and folding it in twice may be a good option. Using a cardboard template to press the pocket’s SAs before top-stitching it in place may also prove to be a good idea. Just draw the pocket on cardboard minus SAs and facing, cut it with the help of a ruler and rotary cutter and the template is ready.
---

EN: The pocket is constructed as indicated in the instructions (except the facing is folded twice because it’s doubled). The template is inserted inside the facing on the wrong side of the pocket, and the SAs are easily pressed in.
---

EN: After pressing the pocket, its placement should be checked; the flat corner outline of the pocket should butt with the placket topstitching:
---

EN: Obviously the buttonhole should be stitched before top-stitching the pocket in place. Here’s how it looks in the end:
---

EN: Another beautiful detail of this dress is the seam treatment. Shoulder and armhole seams are stitched first and are wide flat-felled seams. The allowances on the pattern come adjusted accordingly (one of the SA is wider than 5/8"), so keep this in mind. Below there’s a photo showing the wide flat-felled seams (shoulder crossing the armhole):
---

EN: the sleeve and side seams both have 5/8” SAs and are flat-felled and top-stitched (click here for the tutorial). Under the arm, the wide seams should match as seen in the next photo:
---
CONCLUSION: A beautiful designed pattern, aesthetically very appealing and also quite wearable. I really enjoyed making this shirt and learned a few techniques along the way. I was very intrigued because these techniques are the same used on the making of high quality traditional men's shirts. The style lines also compliments the jacket V1526A which is already on the making :D. Happy sewing to all, thanks for dropping by!
---

It is fabulous to see in detail all the subtle designer touches that make this shirt special. I especially love that the collar can be worn two different ways. I'm guessing the jacket collar is constructed in the same way? Another beautifully made garment from you.

Paco's details are amazing. I really appreciate you sharing them up close like you have. I can't wait to make one of these shirts. He is brilliant for solving the difficulty of getting that last top buttonhole in. Brilliant, Paco!

I'm very impressed with the details in Paco's patterns. I bought this pattern for the shirt, too. I had trouble visualizing the in seam buttonhole until you showed it. Thanks.
