Denim Couture Jacket: The hooks&eyes and the facings/upper collar - Os colchetes e as guarnições (vistas) com gola seguida

EN Summary: After turning in, basting and pressing the edge allowances (as shown in the above photo) I proceeded with stitching in the hooks&eyes and then the facings, which are fell-stitched around the edges. Keep reading to find out all the details.

EN: The hooks&eyes came from the U.S. (a gift from a dear sewing friend) and are larger and also different in shape (the eye is slanted, as you can see in the photo below). To figure out the hooks&eyes placement and spacing I started by placing a pair directly under the collar break point and another at bust points level. If I had used five hooks&eyes, the last one near the hem would be at a little more than an inch from the hem; I ended up using four pairs of hooks&eyes because I didn't like the jacket completely hooked down,

EN: The all-in-one facing/upper collar has a seam at center back; I would have preferred not to have that seam showing but I had no choice with the shortage of fabric. After stitching this seam I was left with a continuous facing piece. The allowances were also basted under/pressed and the piece was pinned to the edges of the jacket and then fell-stitched along the same edges:

EN: The hook&eye placement has a very clean finish because the stitches become covered by the facing (bellow there's the hook at collar's break point):
---
EN: Before I move on with hand-tacking the facing to the neckline seam and princess seam allowances, I must decide if I prefer the collar down or up (I need to account for the turn of the cloth, which will be different on each case). Visually on the dressform, I tend to prefer the collar standing up, but with the jacket on, the collar down feels more natural,... I am still divided between these two options and need to make upp my mind before proceeding. Happy Sewing and thank you all for visiting!

looking so good! and the collar, it looks nice when up on the mannequin but I bet when you wear it then down will be better like you said. I can't wait to see how you style this.

This jacket looks better than most because it's a great fit and so well finished.
