Voltei! – I’m back!

After a well deserved rest, here I am again! First I want to thank all the kind comments, all the emails from my dear friends around the world; I missed you guys and it feels good knowing that you missed me too!

Before getting into Fall projects and future plans, let me update you on my creative adventures:

Os últimos projectos de Verão:
The last summer projects:

Terminei mais um vestido;
I finished a new dress;

Terminei o top Burda (Junho) com linha de linho;
The knit tank top from the June BWOF is done too;

The black crochet dress is almost done… With the current weather conditions I doubt that I will be able to wear it this year so progress has been slow.

Tudo isto vos mostrarei em breve!
I will show you all this really soon!

A minha caixa de correio:
As for my mail box:

I received a package full of lovely gifts from Rosa!
Eis o detalhe do colar que ela me ofereceu:
If you don't know the Corteygrif blog, take a good look at the wonderful crochet artwork there! Here's a close up of the necklace she offered me:
I also got this Threads magazine, a gift from dear Els (thank you!):
This vintage book on fitting and pattern alterations:
These two fantastic patternmaking books, written in Japanese AND English, featuring more than 400 60's style models:
Uns exemplos:
Just a sneak peek inside:

Just not to mention all the Fall/Winter fashion magazines and the September BWOF!

Enfim… Resmas de inspiração!
Yes, lots of inspiration!

What about fall sewing? Well, I finished the August BWOF bubble dress and the matching cape is ongoing.

What about Fall/Winter knitting? I've started on that already; I'm currently working on a fabulous Phildar jacket (more on that later)!

E a seguir?
What will follow? Well, I have tons of future project ideas but I'm not sure if I can make them all happen: I want to sew my first Vogue, I want to draw a pattern from scratch from Mrs Stylebook and then sew it up, there are several BWOF models I want to make, there's the red designer suit and this is just a small sample of what is going on in my mind lately.

Besides all this I initiated a new daily gym routine and that will take away one hour and a half out of my spare time! Yep, time is short and there is so much to do… Updating this blog as often as I used to is going to be difficult but I'll give my best to share as much as I can with you all. We will meet again soon!

Bem vinda!
Ena, tantos mimos e coisas bonitas, tantos projectos, tanta energia!

Muitos beijinhos,
Carmen

Hi Evenstar, I'm planning on making a review of this book but that is queued for later. I can say in advance that the book is quite different from the other two: it has no English translation and it features only twenty models. It explains the drafting of the fitting shell quite well (visually). The styles are all classic contemporary and quite simple (the other two books feature models from the 60's), just like the examples on the cover. The method for drafting is the same in all these books.

Glad you are back Tany. I am trying to be more committed to the gym also - but I know, it certainly interferes with sewing time!

I love the 1960's pattern drafting books. You'll get lots of great inspiration from those.

So I reread the directions for the BWOF cape and I've decided I'm just going to wait on you. I was so lost and confused!

I can't wait to see the bubble dress too. And that drafting books looks like the best find.

Welcome back!!

Welcome back! I can't wait to see your projects.

I hope you enjoy your gym routine too. I started exercising again this year and I can relate to the loss of time. But it's fun and it's good for health, which is the most important thing we have in life.

Oh, I have that blue Japanese pattern drafting book, it is one of my favorite books. I wasn't aware of the red one (vol. II). Now I have to look for it.

Ahhh the exercise routine, I've fallen way behind its been at least 2-1/2 months since I've done any exercising. Thanks for posting on my Twisted Tank. I've been so busy knitting - and now need to get some sewing done.

Anonymous said...

agradeço no entanto.
sou portuguesa, e adorei o seu blogue, vou tentar encontrar o livro
linen and Cotton. Até breve

Tany said...

a wonderful dress! you've again topped yourself.
have fun at the gym :) no need to appologize for not having time to blog that much, i think everyone understands that time is always a lack to us all, and blogging eats up a lot of it. still, it's nice that you will share with us what you do in the future and not stop completely.
